TNA Impact results and videos from Aug. 18 show
Despite the fact that this was a taped show and spoilers were readily available online beforehand, here are the quick results and some videos from tonight's (Aug. 18) show in Orlando:
- Sting opened the show doing the Joker gimmick and acting insane, calling for a match with Hulk Hogan. While he did so, Ric Flair came out and set up a match between the two saying that if Flair win, Sting has to retire for good and if Sting wins, he gets Hogan.
- Backstage segment between Flair and Hogan where they both literally acted completely batshit crazy, especially Flair. It was bizarre.
- Scott Steiner squashed Devon in a Bound for Glory Series match. Samoa Joe came out and squashed Devon even further, leading to a backstage promo from Joe explaining that he will bring down the entire Bound for Glory Series because he wasn't included.
- Austin Aries earned a shot at the X-Division title by winning a gauntlet match over Alex Shelly, Tony Nese, Kid Kash, Robbie E, Zema Ion, Jesse Sorenson, and Mark Haskins.
- Couple of nonsensical backstage segments, including ODB and Jackie hyping a match with Mickie James and Traci Brooks being sexually harassed by Eric Bischoff.
- Mickie James def. ODB.
- Creepy erotic backstage segment with Winter and Angelina Love.
- AJ Styles def. Rob Van Dam in a Bound for Glory Series match.
- A ridiculously ridiculous backstage segment with Flair calling out Sting in a dark room with a lot of noises being made that were supposed to be creepy. Except there were multiple times that you could clearly see people running around and trying (and failing) to hide. Just horrible and goofy as all hell, even if it would have worked perfectly.
- In what was probably the highlight of the evening, Kurt Angle and Crimson went back and forth in a fairly well done promo.
- The show closed with Mexican America defeating Beer Money to become the new TNA tag team champions. The match was decent but was so overbooked as to become almost difficult to follow. Par for the course with TNA.
Other than the Crimson promo with Angle, this show was horrifically bad. And with yet another Sting-Flair feud coming up, which is a cheap way to lead into another Hogan-Sting match, it's only going to get worse.
And they wonder why the pay-per-view buys are so laughably bad. After the jump are a few videos from the show.
Sting opens the show setting up the match with Ric Flair.
RVD vs. AJ Styles in a Bound for Glory Series match.
Mickie James vs. ODB.

Can someone remind me again why Sting didn't sign with WWE?
I just watched the first 60 sec. of the 1st video and it’s just utter nonsense.
WTF Sting?

He always said
he was worried about how they would use him. He didn’t want to get buried on TV and have to build himself all the way back up again.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
yeah glad that didn’t happen
It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail.

Sting/Flair/Hogan
Remember when those names mattered? Now the thought of them in the ring makes me cringe.
My fellow Americans, I have not been entirely truthful with you. I did gagoogidy that girl. I gashmoygadied her gaflavity with my googus. And I am sorry.
The second Flair came out
And legitimately started talking like it was 1994, I turned the channel.
Writer (and a handsome one at that),
And the Valley Shook
Ah..........
Nothing like digging up old feuds and I do mean old. You might as well bring a shovel for this one because of lack of creativity. Now Flair and Sting has one of the best feuds in history with the stand out match of course being at the first COTC and I can even deal with what they were doing in the 90’s but come on, it’s 2011 and if TNA can’t come up with anything better….it shouldn’t come as any surprise. It also makes SOOOO much sense for Mexi America to become tag champions after hardly doing anything for months. Unless you call boring ass promos with a Chavo Guerrero look alike and his attempt to sound to much like what he already is. I’ve seen actors who don’t even go that overboard. Blood In, Blood Out is one of my all time favorite movies and that was mostly about Mexican gangs and NONE OF THEM sounded as ridiculous as Lil Chavo does. I like Herne but they had a better chance of making it look more legit if Homicide was still around. Just another way of showing what happens when you have no leadership. Typical for Tracy Boobs to act like the hoe shes’ always been. Hey look how big my tits are everyone. How pathetic can you be seriously? That bitch looks like a dude. How Kaz hits that is beyond me. Not sure what the hell they are doing with Winter except making into a kinda vampire gimmick? Yeah WWE tried that and look where that ended up. I would prefer her being known as the Beautiful Nightmare than someone who supposedly drinks blood. What a waste on a good asset. It looks like they gave Mickie/ODB more time than usual to do more. Mickie doesn’t need to have her shorts ass high to look good. Why she wants to sell herself looking like a country slut rather than a performer is hard to watch from what she once was. Still better than the shit they’ve been showing for months except on occasions. Happy for Double A cause everyone knows being in the X-division let alone the champion is the farthest they’ll go if you aren’t atleast 6ft or more but even though they could be, someone like Doug Williams who is about as good as anyone on the who’s been in the main event for months is doing NOTHING. They just love wasting talent. The Jarrett’s get more and more annoying by the week and that is all I want to say on that. Why The Fuck is Crimson getting such a huge push for? Shouldn’t someone like Joe or even AJ Styles be in the main event scene? The whole BFG series is something that the AWA already did when they were trying to keep from drowning to their competition. Can anybody really say there is a point to doing this whole series? I mean wouldn’t it be alot more simpler to just have one big ass tournament to see who is the next contender with whomever loses twice is out? The whole concept is just a way to waste time to basically throw random matches together while yet they aren’t even putting any actual feuds together that last longer than a month or two if even that. Would anyone want to waste $30-$40 on shit? If so, then either they are misguided or just don’t know any better or order the ppv’s do to being easily manipulated into thinking TNA is actually doing something different when it’s the complete opposite. Sure you’ll get a great match here and there along with having some that may look good on paper but the overall product is shitty. If I want to watch shitty ass wrestling, I’ll buy a CZW show or watch one of those idiotic and pointless WWE online shows like NXT and Superstars. Waiting for ROH to come on tv is like opening a birthday or christmas I’ve been asking for like my first R/C car. I didn’t care if someone had one better, it was the coolest thing to me.
