WWE: Heath Slater accused of assaulting a woman at WrestleMania 27

A disturbing story has come out stemming from an alleged incident that occurred back in April at WrestleMania 27. A woman, security officer Corinne Oliver, has accused Heath Slater of assaulting her. Worse still, she says Slater grabbed her and put her in a "choke hold" while begging her to go up to his hotel room with him.

WSBTV.com has more:

"When he grabbed me I immediately tried to grab his arms back," security officer Corinne Oliver said. Oliver said it was the worst moment of her life. "And I was saying ‘Turn me a loose.' He wouldn't turn me loose," she said. That's when she said the professional wrestler put her in a choke hold. "I just started fighting with him, trying to get his arm from around my throat," Oliver said. She said as she struggled to get away, Slater kept "begging me to go to his room with him," Oliver said. Oliver said she managed to get away and was later able to identify her attacker as Slater.

Oliver was working for Allied-Barton, a security company charged with keeping fans from coming into contact with the wrestlers. According to her, Slater attacked her after she escorted him into the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

After beginning his WWE career (on television, at least) on NXT and moving on to Raw as a member of the initially popular Nexus, Slater has since bounced around from Raw to Smackdown all the way down to Superstars. He's currently in the midst of a singles run after breaking from Justin Gabriel.

The WSBTV.com channel two report has more on its website, including video with an interview with Oliver describing the incident. Head on over and check it out. In the meantime, anyone want to guess how long it will take before he's written off TV and/or fired altogether?

Extra details from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Oliver didn’t call 911, her attorney said, but instead immediately contacted her Allied Barton supervisor, who was on duty at the hotel at the time of the incident. But after months of inaction, the attorney said Oliver decided to file a police report on June 22, nearly three months after the incident.

"She was waiting on her supervisors to report it to the police and see what they were going to do, but they [supervisors] kept telling her, ‘We’re handling this and we’ll get it resolved,’ " the attorney said. "When she never got it resolved that’s when she took it upon herself to go to the police."

Allied Barton confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that Oliver did report the incident but that the security firm could not comment further now that there is an open police investigation.

Chafee, the APD spokesman, said Thursday that the case remains open. "We still have relevant parties that we will be interviewing. Once the investigation is complete the case will be sent to the DA’s office," he said, referring to the Fulton County district attorney’s office.

Oliver is still employed by Allied Barton as a security guard, her attorney said.

"At this point and time all she wants is justice by having him arrested for the assault that occurred on her," Patterson said. "We’re just hoping that we can get a thorough investigation to get this matter resolved."

I think it's kind of weird it took her 3 months to call the cops

Security guard, bus driver, water company meter inspector, if someone attempts to assault and possibly rape you, you call the cops first, and your supervisors second. With stuff like that, time is of the essence- bruises heal, blood alcohol levels return to normal, you forget certain details…

That said, Slater should be suspended with pay and eventually fired if it can be proven there was an kind of inproprietarity.

Slater was the weakest member of Nexus, I always thought. Worse than Tarver or black John Cena. Splitting him from Gabriel was the worst thing that coulda happened to him. I always saw Slater as having a roster spot because Gabriel needed a partner.

Kind of weird though.

If it’s fabricated, there are wealthier and more recognizable targets.

Considering that sexual assault is terribly underreported, I don’t think the 3 month wait is enough of a red flag to label it as a fraud. It’s probably best to just watch and see how the investigation plays out.

She did report it. Immediately. To her boss.

True or not, I don’t know what she was thinking there. Like I said, you call the cops first, and your boss second. The company needs to write an incident report, sure, makes sense. They can do it concurrently with the cops

If this is true

then he needs to be gone for a fact, not just a suspension. One of the great things in the PG EraStraight Edge Era is that there’s no room for crap like this and the WWE doesn’t need more crap like this. One of the things that will help the company in the long run is making sure that their wrestlers aren’t constantly caught up in something outside of the ring.

"In fact, most of these free-swinging Padres couldn’t hit Dock’s funky palm ball. I threw it often. But by then, also, the first acid distractions entered: the TV flickered; the cracks in the wall started to move; the hand soap started to breathe — those sorts of things. Plus I was drawn to the outdoor garden between innings. Rain was near, I sensed." - A.J. Daulerio
