PrintThe WWE left no room for speculation when it came to whether or not CM Punk would clear up the reason behind his sudden return to the WWE, announcing that he would "address the WWE Universe" tonight on Raw:

Last week, our post show poll that asked whether or not CM Punk's return was rushed had over 600 votes, and roughly 2/3 of the community believed that the return WAS rushed. If anyone can sell the fans on the quick return though, it's CM Punk himself. Putting the mic in his hand and letting him clear the air is certainly the best way to win back over any fans who were put off by the "rushed" return.

The elephant in the room is Summer Slam.
That PPV is important to the WWE. The return of Punk makes sense in that regard. If they done this angle after the PPV then Punk could sit out for a couple of months or so. The return was rushed but I understood why.
Eh
While it would’ve been nice to see Punk go do some Indy dates and try to carry this on virally, I don’t think anyone thought this angle would get as white hot as it has been.
