WWE Champion CM Punk indy tour has started at a AAW show in Berwyn, IL
ROH/indy announcer/manager/etc. Dave Prazak tweeted this message with the above photo an hour ago:
Hey champ. Welcome to Berwyn. http://twitpic.com/5uv08h
Indy wrestler Jimmy Jacobs, who was on the card, followed with:
Unreal. CM Punk cut a promo tonight at @aawpro in Chicago.
I'm sure video will be online shortly. Surreal.
Video was, indeed, online shortly, as AAW's Kevin Harvey tweeted a link to the video (which isn't embeddable in its current state) on yfrog:
@AAWPro fans in Berwyn, the CHAMP is here. http://t.co/Jd1d162
In the video, after Colt Cabana's match teaming with Gregory Iron (who has Cerebral Palsy), Colt went to the locker room to drag out Punk, who came out and cut a promo putting over Irons as a wrestler and for overcoming so much adversity to be as good as he is. He also joked about the sound quality sucking backstage. Good times appear to have been had be all.

Punk has been removed from the "official" WWE roster
They’re really going all-out with this angle. Props.
Roadhouse!
I wonder
if anything should be made by the fact that he didn’t have the belt with him. You’d think that would be a strong image having that belt on a indy show.
If they’ve gone this far they really should have him work a show and defend the title.

So Claudio lost the PWG championship this weekend. That should further fan the kings of wrestling to WWE flames. I agree with Bix that all the events Punk and WWE have done this week make last Monday’s Raw make sense and tonights show so very important.

For those who are curious, it looks like Punk isn’t wherever Raw is once again judging by his twitter. He was talking about going to get something to eat in Chicago today on Twitter.

That’s great news and hopefully a sign WWE is willing to let this simmer and build over time regardless of the ratings.
