JZ Cavalcante Believes His Game Will Carry Him to Victory Over Justin Wilcox

Gesias 'JZ' Cavalcante sat down for a few minutes to talk with MMA Weekly about his upcoming Strikeforce fight vs. Justin Wilcox. The fight is the most prominent of the HDNet prelim fights on Saturday night, and could possibly carry title shot implications.

Fellow lightweights K.J. Noons and Jorge Masvidal will square off on the same card. Both fighters have publicly voiced their belief that if they win, they will get to face SF lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez for the strap.

Scott Coker has been non-committal on the matter. In a live conference call last Tuesday (June 7th), Coker said that the Noons-Masvidal fight AND the Cavalcante-Wilcox fights BOTH hold title implications, based on the results of the respective matches.

In the video interview, 'JZ' was highly complimentary of Melendez, calling him a "great guy...a great athlete...a real champion". Cavalcante also went on to say that he believes Melendez is very arguably the #1 lightweight MMA fighter in the world.
