Randy Orton suffers concussion at house show, PPV match in peril?
Various sites including Jason Powell's ProWrestling.net are reporting that Randy Orton suffered a concussion during his match at the Smackdown house show in Barcelona, Spain this past weekend. Whether or not he'll be medically cleared to work on this Sunday's Capitol Punishment PPV won't be known until the day of the show.
Orton addressed the head injury on Twitter this morning when a fan asked why he didn't wrestle on Monday's All-Star Raw:
@VenomousxSecret because I was knocked out in Spain. U can't wrestle, or should i say, perform, the day after a concussion.
Powell later noted that Orton is now scheduled to wrestle on this weekend's house shows, where he will presumably be doing as little as possible since he's not cleared. If he's not cleared in time for World Heavyweight Championship defense against Christian on the PPV, then it should be interesting to see what happens. I'm not so sure if a week is enough to recover to the point that he could safely work, especially since normally these two would be expected to have a great match together.

I really hope they still manage to have the match, Orton and Christian stole the show at the last PPV, probably my favorite match since I’ve started watching again.

Am I the only one who smirked at "medically cleared"?
Unless I’ve missed some recent policy changes, Orton will be told to suck it up and work unless he collapses backstage beforehand.
The iMPACT testing is flawed and easy to cheat, as Irv Muchnick has been documenting on his blog, and it isn’t like WWE hasn’t manipulated and pressurised their medical advisers over the years, so you’re right to have a healthy dose of cynicism.
