Random Awesome Fights: Roxanne Modafferi vs. Jennifer Howe II

March 5th, 2005 - For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jennifer Howe, don't feel too bad. She was a pioneer of the sport, and not just for females, but mixed martial artists in general. The lady went 12-0 over the span of six years, with 5 T/KO's and 6 submissions. She was the only woman to EVER beat Tara LaRosa (At least until Roxy decisioned Tara in their rematch...but we'll get to that later in the week), and to today is the only woman to EVER stop LaRosa. Many considered Jennifer Howe to be unstoppable, and only imaged she would steamroll the the very green Roxanne Modafferi, then 3-0, when they first met in November of 2004.

But alas, Roxy stunned the world that night and was awarded the unanimous decision after their 15-minute war. Jennifer Howe was awarded an immediate rematch four months later (well, immediate for her. Roxy actually had two fights in between, competing in a one night SmackGirls tournament). There were of course excuses. Howe lost to the young Modafferi due to this and that. She wasn't there mentally. She had a bad camp. So on and so forth.

Howe assured the world that the rematch would be different. She wouldn't only win, but she would DESTROY Modafferi in their rematch. Her head was in a good place, her camp went well. It was end game for Roxy. And I must admit, we all believed her...

What followed was, as typical with Modafferi fights, a freakin WAR. A brawl on the feet and a technical battle on the ground.  So with no further adue, we bring to you Roxanne Modafferi vs. Jennifer Howe II.

The fight is just a click away. Go ahead. Click it. Do it. You won't regret it. It's 11 minutes well spent.
