WWE Extreme Rules 2011 results: Cena, Christian, Kofi win titles
My apologies that we couldn't get to this last night as nobody was available to do a liveblog and then there we were all wrapped up in the big world news.
1. Randy Orton defeated CM Punk in a Last Man Standing match after a top rope RKO.
2. Kofi Kingston defeated Sheamus to win the U.S. Championship and bring it back to Raw in a Tables Match with a top rope Boom Drop off the top rope to the floor.
3. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger defeated Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross in a Country Whipping Match when Cole pinned Ross (distracted by Swagger) with a roll-up.
4. Rey Mysterio defeated Cody Rhodes in a Falls Count Anywhere match after green mist to the eyes(!), the 619, and a springboard splash. They brawled into the concourse during the match.
5. Layla defeated Michelle McCool in a loser goes home to take care of The Undertaker leaves WWE match by countering a pin attempt into a crucifix. After the match, Kharma (Kia Stevens, the former Amazing/Awesome Kong) debuted by laying out McCool with what probably won't be called the Implant Buster anymore while they showed the other women scared out of their wits watching on the monitor.
6. Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio in a Ladder Match to win the vacant World Heavyweight Championship and keep it on Smackdown after Edge distracted Del Rio by driving a car into the arena while honking a horn and Christian knocked him off the ladder and onto Brodus Clay and Ricardo Rodriguez at ringside.
7. The Big Show & Kane defeated Wade Barrett & Ezekiel Jackson to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships after Big Show chokeslammed Barrett.
8. John Cena defeated John Morrison and WWE Champion The Miz to win the title in a Steel Cage Match by pinning Miz after countering the Skull Crushing Finale into the Attitude Adjustment. R-Truth interfered before the finish to stop Morrison from exiting the cage and then laid both him and Cena out before climbing out of the cage to "show he would've won the match" if he hadn't lost his slot.
After the show went off the air, Cena announced the killing of Osama Bin Laden by US forces (which we now know to be a Navy SEALs team) to the fans in attendance.

Should have got a hold of me, I watched the show, and found it to be highly enjoyable. The two most memorable moments of the night had to be Christian, and Morrison.
There was a spot Christian did in the ladder match where he was knocked from the top rope, and landed on a ladder, then cross bodied Del Rio all in a matter of a few seconds. The amount of balance, timing, and awareness that took was incredible. Then again, there was the blatant positioning Christian did when laid out on the ladder that was held up by the ring and the table. He wasn’t quite where he needed to be, but he was hardly discreet about scooting himself further onto the ladder. That had to be a painful bump Del Rio took diving into the ladder like that though.
Morrison pretty much stole the show in my opinion. His performance in the cage with Cena and Miz showed that he could hang with two of the best, and his parkour style just separates him from the other high flyers. Starship off the cage, then his near escape were great. He may not have won a title, but I think he is surely a big winner after last night’s PPV.

Really great show. Christian winning the title obviously makes it the match of the night but I really enjoyed the CM Punk/Orton match as well. There were some absolute brutal moments in that match.
I’m still riding the fence on Morrison though. Between the months of Nov-Feb I thought he was fantastic. Then they handed him the mic (which eventually has to happen) and it just makes it hard for me to get behind him. If JoMo had a manager or something, without a doubt he could be a consistent main event player.
Man you made a great point about him on the mic…it’s easy to forget when he just performs in the ring. Hopefully someone up top digs his style enough to take him and try to work with him, or find something that really works. During the R-Truth heel turn (which is a whole other story, first he’s lazy, he smokes, and now he can’t spell? I see what you did there WWE) I guess he was aiming for the douche persona, but man, they already have a great deal of pretty boy jerks on the roster, and Morrison just can’t compete. The man comes out to Lenny Kravitz, have they tried to get him over as a cool rocker type before?
Maybe fit him into the roll of a laid-back “too cool for school” type, and give him a manager that can handle the mic for the most part? Seems like the best bet is to just make him a man of few words for now and let his work in the ring do the talking. Last night and the Royal Rumble were both shows this year where I felt that Morrison really shined. His spot during the rumble was great, although short lived.
I think the best news is he didn’t go in there and look out of place or overshadowed. Before R-Truth interfered, I didn’t feel like he was just in the ring for a few cool moves, he came across as a legit threat. Considering the two men he was in the ring with, that’s not too bad at all.
