With WrestleMania season upon us the rumors of who will arrive in WWE are swirling fast and furious. Today the NY Daily News reported that Sting has signed a 1-year WWE contract and will appear on Raw 2-21-11

Brian Fritz of Fanhouse.com posted an interview with Chris Jericho in which Jericho revealed that he's 90% done negotiating a new WWE contract and has the itch to get back in the ring as soon as possible.

Dave Meltzer reported earlier today that the 2-21-11 video was all about the Undertaker returning to WWE. That theory seems to be correct given the fact that the Save Mart Center website advertises the Undertaker returning to the WWE on 2-21-11. However, later in his daily report Meltzer seemed to back off that statement a bit.

Of course, this far out that could always change if, for example, they signed Sting. But as of last night, based on localized commercials for the event, it was planned to be Taker's return.  -Meltzer

This is the fun and excitement of WrestleMania season and for sure we haven't heard the last about these two stars and probably will hear more about Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

I am a mark when it comes to Goldberg.

When the music hits, I go bananas. Who’s next??!!! You’re next!! Lol!

It would be awesome to see Sting. Really can’t go wrong with either of them. This is probably that first Wrestlemania that I am legitimately excited about.

I pretty much hoping it's Sting

But one person it could be is HHH. He’s due to return and maybe the trench coat is a gimmick to swerve people. If it was the Undertaker, my question is why would the Undertaker comeback on Raw? Taker will most likely face Wade Barrett if Sting doesn’t come on board and Smackdown needs all of the ratings an Undertaker return would generate. It would be a total waste to blow Taker on Raw when Barrett can’t confront him and cut a promo on him on the day he returns.

The more I think about the more I feel like its not Undertaker.

The fact that The Undertaker was confirmed for showing up on Raw on 2-21-11 has actually made me lean more towards Sting actually showing up. I mean it’s clear that Sting vs. The Undertaker is the biggest match the WWE could book and having Sting interupt the deadman’s return would be a great way to start their feud. Let’s not forget a couple of years ago Goldberg showed up on Raw to challenge The Rock after Mania. The Raw after The EC ppv could be the site of another historic debut as The Stinger finally joins the WWE.

I hope it’s Sting. I don’t want Sting/Taker at this WrestleMania though. I want Sting in a match that he’ll win since if has signed I’m assuming he’s going in the HoF and it is going to be in Atlanta.

Who says he won’t beat Taker at mania?, I mean the whole streak thing has taken a life of it’s own and has gotten out of hand imo. It would be a great way for Taker to lose it by dropping it to another legendary wrestler and that would make great motivation for a rematch down the line at another ppv.

In my opinion if they were going to have UnderTaker lose at WrestleMania it would of been to HBK. They are not going to have him lose to somebody new to the company

No way should Taker lose to Sting. Maybe a draw or a ref stoppage where Sting refuses to tap out to the hells gate finish and passes out a la Bret/Austin at WM 13. The Undertaker should lose that streak in his retirement match against a fresh main eventer.

I like the idea of the Hells Gate finish, and if he were to ever lose the streak I agree that it should be to a fresh main eventer but I don’t think he will

There are few opportunities the WWE creates to make major stars. The Undertakers streak is a surefire, no brainer of a way to create a MONSTER of a heel. If WWE allows Taker to ride into the sunset without using that to make somebody then either Taker knows where the bodies are buried and is calling his own shots or they are stupid and there is no hope.

I guess WWE also could let him have it because Taker has been so loyal for so many years.

I think they’ll be loyal, but if they do want him to lose his retirement match at Mania then they shouldn’t have him face Barrett this year imo they should wait for that one since Barrett would be one of logical choices to get pushed over the top with a victory over Taker

I think they’d like to sign him, but I think I’ve read that he likes TNAs schedule better.

by The Legend on Feb 4, 2011 12:19 PM EST up reply actions

If WWE wants Kurt Angle or Sting both of those guys will have to work an Undertaker type schedule. With WWE guys like Sting and Angle will have way more impact on pop culture. Angle ANd Sting are aspiring actors but touting TNA ratings and ppv buys doesn’t really say they are hot commodities. With WWE the have a film division, a future cable network, TV shows like Tough Enough to host or be trainers, exposure to get endorsements, toy and video game licensing money. Angle and Sting really don’t have to wrestle the hard road schedule to make millions anymore.

Look at Booker T’s deal, he will wrestle but he’s the Tough Enough trainer and he’s a broadcaster and he’s making 20x what he did in TNA.
