On this date in WWF history: Chris Jericho becomes the first-ever Undisputed Champion at Vengeance
On December 9, 2001, Chris Jericho defied the predictions of most fantasy bookers and not only defeated The Rock, but also Stone Cold Steve Austin (both in the same night) to unify the WCW Heavyweight Championship and the WWF Championship.
The final result: Y2J left WWE Vengeance the first-ever Undisputed Champion.
But there was plenty of dispute between wrestling fans. How about it Cagesiders, what was your initial reaction to having Jericho go over both "The Brahma Bull" and "The Rattlesnake," two of pro wrestling's hottest acts in 2001?

Benoit should have got the spot
but he broke his neck. (karma)
Jericho winning was pretty huge historically, but not really at the time, through no fault of his own.
The company was focused on the McMahon/Flair storyline, Triple H’s comeback and once the NWO came in about a month later, Jericho and his undisputed title just slipped down the ladder. Those were the times.
But historically speaking, that is a tremendous honour to be bestowed upon Jericho, which over time, carried more importance than all of those other storylines combined.
Karma takes action before an event?
I think you meant “irony.” No?
God is fake, guns are good, and people are crazy.

What the fuck were those Austin chops at 1:28?
Great night if you were a Jerichoholic! The man finally got his due!
Great all-time moment for me as a long time Jericho fan and this not only made Y2J legit but also was incredibly shocking and well done something that can’t be said of the current product.

3 totally deserving people, going for one title
Now the E has a problem giving us 3 credible contenders for 2 titles.

JR's commentary was awesome
You don’t really think too much of it until he’s not around.
