On this date in WWF history: Stone Cold Steve Austin forfeits the Intercontinental belt and dumps it in a river
Hard to imagine there was a time when Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock were battling for the WWF Intercontinental title.
But battle they did, and "The Rattlesnake" defeated "The Great One" at the D-Generation X: In Your House pay-per-view, leading to the above moment on Monday Night Raw the very next evening (Dec. 8, 1997).
Austin forfeited the title to the "Brahma Bull," then promptly delivered a stunner before declaring "DTA: Don't Trust Anybody!" Not content to just humiliate The Rock (and Vince McMahon) Stone Cold then took the IC belt and threw it into a nearby river.
Legend says it's still there...wrapped around the waist of little Jason Voorhees.

The way that the did that was great. You couldn’t really move SCSA into the main event level with a lose, so have him vacate it in a very Stone Cold, screw the boss kind of way.
Watching this made me think of something. I feel like they are trying to use the same templete, basically, for CM Punk. To pull it off, they need to give him a little more edge and attitude.
