WWE 2012 pay-per-view schedule is all set with 13 events

The big one.

WWE has some rather ambitious plans for 2012, the biggest of which is the WWE Network that is all set to unveil on April 1 to coincide with WrestleMania 28. It's also reportedly set to move a lot of its smaller pay-per-view shows to the network but preliminary plans reportedly call for each event to remain available through purchase.

The complete schedule for the upcoming year has been released and it looks as follows:

  • Royal Rumble -- Jan. 29, 2012, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri
  • Elimination Chamber -- Feb. 19, 2012, at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • WrestleMania 28 -- April 1, 2012, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida
  • Extreme Rules -- April 29, 2012, at the AllState Arena in Chicago, Illinois
  • Over the Limit -- May 20, 2012, at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Bragging Rights -- June 17, 2012, location TBA
  • Money in the Bank -- July 15, 2012, Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • SummerSlam -- Aug. 19, 2012, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California
  • Night of Champions -- Sept. 16, 2012, Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Hell in a Cell -- Oct. 7, 2012, location TBA
  • Vengeance -- Oct. 28, 2012, location TBA
  • Survivor Series -- Nov. 18, 2012, location TBA
  • TLC -- Dec. 16, 2012, location TBA

The only change this coming year is to the Bragging Rights show, which was Capitol Punishment last year. I'm not sure why they decided to make the switch, but it's not like it will have a major effect either way. It's interesting to note that if all things go according to plan, Bragging Rights could be the first pay-per-view to air on the WWE Network.

How's the schedule looking to you, Cagesiders?

The thing I notice right off...

is Extreme Rules in Chicago. I love StL is getting a PPV, its been years, but they are holding it in such a small place. Nitro used to be run in the EJ Dome… this is being run in our indoor football arena.

Awesome

My wife and I are driving from California to Minnesota this summer for my youngest brother’s wedding. I think a stop in Vegas to see Money In the Bank is in order.

Missing one thing...

King of the Ring!….beating a dead horse? Maybe, I still want it back.

Agreed, bring the PPV back, lose the king gimmick to the winner...

The last couple winners (Sheamus, Booker T, Regal) had the dumb king gimmick, but before then it was a solid platform to boost mid carders up…Stone Cold, Owen Hart, HHH, Kurt Angle, Edge, and Brock Lesnar.

Personally, I like King of the Ring, but

prefer it a kind of stretched out competition over the course of one or more RAWs/Smackdowns. The title itself is semi-informal, so I like the idea of making the competition itself semi-informal. It also adds some relevance to random RAW/Smackdown that happen- make them King of the Ring qualifiers, or finals, and the random match between two guys that might be scheduled anyway seems more important.

If I was in charge I would do 6 PPV's a year.

Royal Rumble
WrestleMania
King of the Ring
SummerSlam
Survivor Series
Starrcade

This is a good list

Have King of the Ring a one-night tournament, with the winner becoming the new #1 contender! I personally miss the one-night format.

I guess I would want Halloween Havoc in there somewhere too. That just sounds like fun.

That’s what made Mania 4 so bad ass. I like the idea of tourneys as well. You can start new feuds just by having random match ups.

Exactly.

And have the 7 other B-events be free on the network.

I'll be going...

To WrestleMania. Thinking about Money in the Bank too.

I read that they were thinking about doing MiTB at WrestleMania so I’m kinda surprised that they are still going to do the PPV. I don’t like MiTB as a PPV I prefer it at WrestleMania or if they want two winners then they can do two matches at WrestleMania so I’ll scratch that PPV & replace it with Vengeance & I’m going to scrap Hell in a Cell all together so those matches can feel special again. In place of Vengeance I’m going to bring back Halloween Havoc

Halloween Havoc is definitely a show that needs to come back.

Starrcade should too.

Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

Gotta keep the Rumble too, though.

Rumble, Mania, Summerslam, Starrcade.

and then your set: Royal Rumble (Jan),Mania (Mar/Apr), Summerslam (Jul/Aug),Halloween Havoc (Oct), S.Series/Fall Brawl/WarGames (Nov), and Starrcade (Dec)

I loved MiTB as a Wrestlemania match

It would guarantee we’d get to see 1 spectacular match as I can’t think of a MiTB match that has disappointed me. But they wouldn’t 2 matches there that would basically take up an hour of the show at least, so I can live with it being its separate PPV.

by hfl2013 on Dec 30, 2011 11:49 AM EST up reply actions

True. I prefer MITB matches to be in Mania as well.

It was cool because it would set up a storyline for the whole year. A new number one contender was established and it was fun to guess when and where he was going to cash in. Those were the days.

by FighterHayabusa on Dec 30, 2011 2:01 PM EST up reply actions

They probably got rid of Capitol Punishment's name

because it isn’t in D.C. this year.

Anyway, there is still one too many PPVs in October. They need to drop the HIAC PPV already. Twelve is more than enough. Really, without being concerned with added revenue, somewhere between four and six PPVs a year is probably the sweet spot. Either that or go back to a hard split between RAW and SD and have RAW and SD-only PPVs again.

WWE loves their Summerslam to be in LA.

Wish LA got the Survivor Series or the Rumble for that matter.
