Video: Dec. 28 episode of WWE NXT featuring Nexus alumni Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater

The last NXT of 2011 is now available for your viewing pleasure. So what does the WWE have on tap for you?

Well, first season NXT cast members and former Nexus stablemates Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater go at it after "The One Man Southern Rock Band" talks some bulljive. Seriously, Slater is horr-en-dous on the stick. Stick him in a sociopathic hillbilly gimmick and let him run with it.

You can also expect to see Tyson Kidd in action against Percy Watson and in your maaain event, the feud over Maxine between her former fiancé Derrick Bateman and Johnny Curtis comes to a head.

Enjoy, Cagesiders.

I think that guy could break out big if he’s given any sort of push. People really, really hate that guy. The One Man Southern Rock Band is someone that is very easy to hate. There aren’t a lot of jobbers who are that hated. Otunga fits in that category too.

His lame gimmick is why everyone hates him though

It needs to grow into something more obviously, but for the time being, the annoying jackass who thinks he’s some Lynard Skynard type rock star can get him over as a heel.

Could he change his name to Kid Rock?

Then I’d REALLY dislike him.

Agreed

I can see it working If they make him into an oblivious self-absorbed wannabe rockstar. Comes out and thanks the fans for the applause before each match. After each win he could get on the mic and tell the fans he’d be delighted to give them an encore then continue beating the hell out of his opponent.

I understand why they do it

But the piped in pre-recorded cheers sound so fake and bad. Especially when you can clearly see the crowd is completely uninterested when they use them.

Its done better than in TNA

when the audience is deafening and you can clearly see all 250 people in attendance are in “Don’t Care” mode.

I saw some stuff of Gabriel's from South Africa

Dude was pretty awesome. He was a generic cocky guy with girl, but his moves were crazy good.

His moves now are pretty good

but the WWE sadly doesn’t really have much use for those guys in singles competition. They’re great for MiTB and tag teams and that’s about it. The WWE really needs to bring back the Cruiserweight championship even if it might put some guys in the spot of never being able to shed the cruiserweight title.

Agreed

They have a hell of a lot of lightweight kind of talent that they can very easily make, or put a new emphasis on the smaller, high-flier guys.
