On this date in WWF history: Commissioner Michaels screws Billy Gunn out of the Intercontinental title

On December 21, 1998, Billy Gunn challenged Ken Shamrock for the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF) Intercontinental Championship Title. After a fairly spirited match, "Badass" pinned "The World's Most Dangerous Man" for the belt.
Except he didn't.
That's because Shawn Michaels, who took on the non-wrestling position of WWF commissioner after his back exploded at the Royal Rumble earlier in the year, came out to the ring to tell "Mr. Ass' he could win the belt by defeating Shammy in a fight, but since this was a wrestling match, it was merely a non-title bout.
Swerve!
That HBK, what a grinch! See Gunn get screwed out of the strap, after the jump.
In true "Attitude" form, Gunn flashes some ass in defiance to Commissioner Michaels, and gets walloped by Shammy for his troubles.
So we have a couple of angles here Cagesiders, let's hear the best (and worst) of what's at play. Michaels as Commish? Shamrock as champ? Gunn as anything?

Can I get a little more context, bc I don’t remember this. Obviously this was post DX. So when did Michaels start hating on his former stablemates?

Well, Billy Gunn
was never a stablemate with HBK. Michaels had left before the New Age Outlaws joined up. And when he came back, he didn’t really have an affiliation with anyone, as per his gimmick as the Commish. If I remember right, he was a huge dick at that time, too. So yeah.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
So, can we no longer get pictures of men’s asses. I don’t wanna see any guy up in a thong.
