Dave Batista Twitter rages against Daniel Bryan winning the world heavyweight championship at WWE TLC
Look who's back in the news again. It's none other than Dave Batista, the former WWE champion who hasn't seen the inside of a ring for a year now but manages to pop up every now and again with comments that seem to piss everyone off.
He did so last night when after the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) event that took place in Baltimore. Upon learning that Daniel Bryan had cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and won the world heavyweight championship, Batista tweeted the following:
"Excuse me! Did i hear that right? Daniel Bryan World Heavyweight Champ. ummmmmmm.....ok."
This brought forth an explosive reaction from his nearly 100,000 followers and he responded the way you would think:
"Man did that comment bring the tough guy haters out. Well I'm at Gracie Fighter Tampa daily. 6333 s. dale mabry hwy Tampa FL. Stop on by."
You mad?
It's difficult to bag on Batista for simply having an opinion on who the world heavyweight champion is. There were plenty of folks jumping for joy that another wrestler who built his name through the Indies has risen to the pinnacle of the sport, but there are just as many who think it's a mistake.
Thankfully, old Dave cleared it all up with a much longer message, which was filled with rage, bad spelling and even worse grammar. Let's hear him out.
"So to clear up any misunderstanding about me hating on Daniel Bryan...actually i've been a supporter of his for years, unlike most of you Johnny come lately smart mark supporters. we actually had a hell of a match together that was originally supposed to be a squash match until this old broken down ex bodybuilder who never deserved to be champion and only had it handed to me because HHH was my boy...refused to job the kid out because i knew how good he was and wanted to have a fucking match with him before i left the company. and a hell of a match we had considering where our respective places in the company were at the time. so yes im aware of all of his accomplishments and hard work through out the years and i'm thrilled to death for him....but still...World Heavyweight champ???ummmmmmm...ok. opinions are like assholes. my Twitter account,my opinion. and to all the bitch ass haters who just dogged me out and bitched about how horrible i was.....i've worked with HHH, the Undertaker,Rey Mysterio,Randy Orton Stone Cold,Edge,John Cena,Chris Benoit,Ric Fucking Flair!!etc.etc.. and they all respected me and my work. Eddie Guerrero respected my work. so don't expect your little bullshit remarks to actually carry any weight. in your bitch ass faces!!"
Seriously, though ... you mad?
Essentially what Batista seems to be saying is that Bryan, who accomplished quite a bit on the Indie scene, hasn't done nearly enough within WWE to warrant putting the world heavyweight title on him. And in a lot of ways, that makes complete sense.
You can blame the booking, sure, and it has a lot to do with it. But it's impossible to ignore the fact that Bryan has yet to really work his way up the proverbial ladder (not including that one that had a briefcase at the end of it).
Batista also seems to be stuck with the old school pro wrestling mentality that even though it's not real and it's all entertainment, the performers still need to be legitimate tough guys to get over. Which is why he went after Miz not long ago and likely at least part of the reason he's going after Bryan now, even though he's doing so while claiming to be buddies with him.
It's also possible he sees the world title as worth something more than what it is now, which is to say, there was a time when the title was only given to you if you were the biggest star on the show and it no longer made sense for you not to hold it. Now, the title is being used as a way to get a guy over instead of his already being over and the belt being the cherry on top to crown him.
To that end, he's got a great point. And you know what? I'm not entirely sure I I don't disagree.
Cagesiders, what are your thoughts on this?

I’d be delighted if Bryan has a good run as World Heavyweight Champion but, if so, it’ll be in spite of how he’s been booked throughout his time in the company. There’s been no progression to his character and career – he’s just sort of meandered through good and bad patches; always having brilliant fights but never having meaningful feuds and storylines to make them feel significant and to make him seem compelling. So, for those among the audience who don’t know ROH from GBH, RAM and YKINOK he’ll still be just this guy, you know?
Still, I hope they work harder now he’s the champion.
Oh, and how old is Batista? “Bitch ass faces”? Yeah, I sure I am disappointed that we never got to hear ‘im on the mic’ in the Attitude era.
The title has always been used to get guys over
That’s why guys like Ted Dibiase Sr and Jake Roberts never held it. They were so good at what they did, they were already over.

Mad libs
Take out Bryan’s name and substitute basically any champ from the last few years except Cena, Orton and Undertaker and you’ve got a legitimate complaint. But the problem isn’t with Bryan – it’s with WWE booking. Batista’s initial world championship run was really well booked, with some interesting swerves. But with dumb gimmicks like MiTB, there’s no proper build or even a proper match – so after the initial pop during cash-in time, there’s not much to cheer about.
So tired of Batista...

Pretty sure you can do something about it if you want Dave
If he went back Vince would put a belt back on him but quick.
Writer (and a handsome one at that),
And the Valley Shook
Of course.. he’s smart.. he’d have it in his contract… they all do.

They kinda just tossed the belt at Randy Orton and said “hey, ur gunna be the future.” Give me a fuckin break. Everyone’s career is going to deviate from the path that everyone has decided is the “right way.” I jumped and cheered when Bryan won it. I yelled and pumped my fist when Henry won it from Orton. One took a couple years in the WWE, the other took 15. Both made me go crazy, both were appropriate within the program’s nature. Both did what needed to be done for the company to move forward. At the end of the day this thing is a story, and it’s about damn time that they started giving us what we want out of the story. The kids get what they want, Mcmahon gets what he wants..Well now the IWC can get what we want. It’s about damn time, and i dont care how long it lasts. I’m soakin it all in.

Batista is right.
The world champ should symbolize a main draw with lasting appeal. They put the title over and the title becomes a draw to make money. Not this shit like Daniel. Dumb marks need to stop marking out like dumb marks.
Nice work on the editorial.

I agree with Batista, and I'm probably as big of a Danielson fan as one will find.
If a company has been jobbing a guy out for an entire year, they shouldn’t put the belt on said guy, especially not in the contrived MitB cash in. It makes the belt look like a joke, the guy who’s been jobbed won’t get over just because he has the belt, and nobody will buy the PPV’s or watch TV to see the guy who’s been pushed as a loser.
Actually, you can really trace this back to when they gave it to Punk originally.
The MITB has really only gotten two guys over in terms of acceptability. Edge and RVD, the former because it was a surprise, and the latter because it was done correctly, in front of the right crowd and the right build.
Nearly everyone else who has won the MITB hasn’t really gone too far with it, be it because of bad booking (Punk and ADR), bad ideas (Miz and Swagger), or a bad urinalysis (Kennedy).
MITB is an experiment to see who they think can draw, bottom line. You ever notice that almost none of the main-eventers, past or present, do them? It’s a spotfest.
About what Dave said, a grain of salt has to be taken with what he said. This is the same guy who buried OVW in his book and said they didn’t teach him anything.

Part of me wanted Wade Barrett walking around with that briefcase. Simply…if he had won-it would be interesting to see what creative had come with (seeing how the last two shots crashed and burned).
In hindsight now- I’m glad he didn’t win-because leading into TLC- the biggest complaint about Bryan’s push was who he was losing to (black ad—i mean Sin Cara negro).
Now its this.
As for the other half of the cookie-simply let’s put a microphone on Mr. Batista and let him explain himself. Chavo junior did. Seeing how Dave still believes he’s money-hopefully TV Trax or Sergio or Chad Dukes will give him the opportunity to explain why he’s hating on a company that gave him everything.
So cmon on down Dave. Your audience is waiting.

Typical Batista
He actually had a good point, to your average WWE fan Daniel Bryan hasn’t been booked strongly enough to have a credible title reign. Whilst many “smarks” are purring at the thought of him, Punk and Ryder holding the main straps in the business, yesterday’s RAW actually created a sense of comical anarchy.
Of course Batista would litter his argument with horrendous grammar and spelling not to mention his swearing. We get it, Dave you worked with some of the best that doesn’t elevate you to their level though. He threw his toys out the pram as ever when people disagreed with his opinion.
Yes the world title is a way to get people over and whats’ wrong with that? Let’s not forget that it’s also a way of saying, hey I’ve busted my ass for years and it feels good to be a world champion. Atleast it’s not as worthless as the WWE title. Sure Punk is champ but it’s barely had different people hold it over the years. Seeing someone be champ is just boring and doesn’t give much reason for people to want it since no matter who the WWE champion happens to be, it’s always going to go back to Super Cena. It’s more of a political title rather than having someone say I’ve worked to get this. It’s more like being in good graces with the politicians rather than having just actual wrestling skills and charisma. Unlike the WHC where it shows that they’re can be more of a choice rather than seeing the same fucking wrestler be champion over and over. People like Bryan deserves to be where he’s at and no matter what jerk off agrees with Batista and his shitty comments and then turn around and challenge anyone that doesn’t agree is just a straight up douche. Guys like Henry and Christian who have actually worked their asses off don’t give the credit they deserve because they are just to fucking blind to see anything pass their own ignorance and agrees with anything anyone else does and says. Blindly following like sheeple who can’t think for themselves but yet find a reason to defend pricks like Batista. You should wipe that lipstick off next time you shout stupidity bitches.
you're own stupidity will lead you to your own downfall
