Poll: Does Daniel Bryan have to turn heel after his actions at TLC?
Now that the moment has passed and we're able to objectively look at the circumstances surrounding Daniel Bryan's first world title reign in the WWE, one question has been brought up consistently in the past 12 or so odd hours:
Is a character turn in the cards for Daniel Bryan?
Historically, those cashing in their Money in the Bank briefcase on a Superstar who is prone and relatively helpless opponent have been on the opposite side of the ethical spectrum. Alberto Del Rio is the most recent example, taking advantage of a Kevin Nash-delivered powerbomb on CM Punk to capture his first title.
Edge did it not once but twice against John Cena and then against The Undertaker two years later. The retired Superstar would get his comeuppance the following year when CM Punk took advantage of Batista's attack on the villainous Canadian.
Speaking of Punk, the only time that a Superstar whose fan favorite or rulebreaker alignment was the same as whoever he was cashing in against was when the current WWE Champion took out Jeff Hardy in the summer of 2009. It was odd at first considering both were good guys but it became apparent very quickly that Punk had undergone somewhat of a personality change.
Is the same to be expect for Bryan? Can he manage to justify his actions -- ripping the World Heavyweight Championship belt off The Big Show literally minute after he had won it -- enough to keep the fans on his side?
It would be easy to turn Bryan rulebreaker. If history is any indication, he prospers in the role. His run in Ring of Honor (ROH) was marvelous and there's no reason why his character in the WWE -- one that is a rough and tumble shoot wrestler -- can't be tweaked to achieve the same effect.
But a turn isn't necessarily needed or warranted in this case. While Bryan did take advantage of The Big Show, can we really say he betrayed him? Their on-screen friendship -- if it can be called that -- hasn't been very long and Show himself was convincing Bryan just a few weeks ago to do the exact same thing to Henry that was done to him last night.
As Geno wrote earlier, Henry is currently working through a groin pull or tear and shouldn't even have been inside the ring last night. If Henry is put on the shelf, Show could fill his role as the unstoppable, huge monster. The seeds may have been planted for Bryan turn but it could easily swing the other way on Show.
Show losing his cool over losing his title could just as easily happen tomorrow night during the Smackdown tapings as Bryan starting his descent in villainy. Should Bryan stay a fan favorite, a "giant killer" gimmick going into WrestleMania could be fun.

Well?

Will this add a title reign to Show’s resume? Ha.
And if you were going to turn Bryan heel why not just book Henry to win (so the last few months aren’t wasted on building him up), and have Daniel take him out right after the match with chairshots or whatever then cash in? This lets Henry retain his aura (had to be taken advantage of and taken out brutally AFTER he just finished a match) and it makes Bryan look like a pretty ruthless villain.
Then again it always helps to turn someone if they beat a face rather than a heel I guess.

My friend and I
each guessed what this article says. He thought Show is turning whereas I think Bryan will be.
Bryan would be much more fun.
Bryan said as much on Colt Cabana’s pawdcast from early November.

It could be viewed as a very poorly booked "passing of the torch"...
with neither man turning heel. I’m guessing this is, at least initially, how they will book it.

I hope not, I see alot of potential in a Bret Hart like babyface run by Bryan but it’s up to the WWE to book it right and we all know that’s wishfull thinking.

I hope so, but at the same time, his turning heel with a chip on his shoulder is exactly what they did with Mark Henry
Turning Big Show semi-heel, and having Daniel Bryan a ‘giant killer’ sounds pretty cool, I gotta say.

Bryan Danielson is a hardcore mega badass...
Here is my fantasy booking: Bryan turns heel and is spanking everybody’s ass, he eventually runs into Punk and a rivalry is born (maybe costs him a match somewhere between now and the Rumble With his “I’ve got a chip on my shoulder everbody must pay” shtick). Bryan retains his title earlier in the Rumble against Show or somebody. Punk retains belt against someone else. A confrontationbetween the two occurs back stage. Then the rumble comes around starts going on without a hitch. Then suddenly… number 40 is about to come out… and it’s… PUNK! What? How the hell is this happening? it doesn’t matter (as the rock would say) and he starts kicking hard ass. Bryan runs out to interfere but accidently eliminates the last guy (who is not Punk). Punk clocks ryan an celebrates winning the rumble and gets on the stick and tells everyone how his is gonna unify the belt at ’Mania against Bryan
