On this date in WCW: Goldberg stamps an expiration date on Bret Hart's career
That's according to "The Hitman," in this infamous column from the Calgary Sun, where he details the not-so-super kick that put him on queer street for the remainder of his WCW career.
"Making his way back into wrestling circles is Bill Goldberg, who is most famous for his incredible undefeated string of victories in the WCW. Not to mention he's the guy who accidentally kicked me in the head in December 1999, causing my career-ending concussion. He kicked me much like a wild bucking horse and nearly knocked my head off my shoulders. I still, even now, have a tear in my neck muscle the size of a quarter that will never heal to prove it. Goldberg's wrestling ability often resembled the gorilla in those old Samsonite luggage commercials. He had a tendency to injure everybody he worked with and took his own publicity a little too seriously."
Hart was defending his WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Goldberg at Starrcade from the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., on December 19, 1999.
Here's how it all played out.
Kick at the 19:45 mark
Is Goldberg to blame for ending Bret Hart's career? Or was it over the minute he signed with WCW?

Here's what I get from that...
one, when someone ‘kicks’ you in the head, aren’t you supposed to protect yourself? Isn’t that how that’s supposed to work? And two, Hart willingly participated in a Montreal Screwjob ending? Am I missing something or does that scream hypocrite?
Blah.. yet another Hart story..
At least this one ends great. If anyone deserved to get their head kicked off it was Hart. Goldberg made him out to be the bia that he really is.

i think
the bike thing was the drop that spilled the glass, think he was even paralized and had therapy for months, but he was already retired from wrestling, hmm, and i always thought those goldberg related injuries were keyfabe lol seems i was wrong
Another reason not to like Goldberg

Never did like Goldbrick
Too much ego, not enough training. But he was home-grown, so WCW wasn’t about to stop him…

Oh my god, ANOTHER Bret Hart post.
Sheesh, it’s all you post about. Ugh. Hate this guy, he totally sucks, stop posting on him, dghosdghdo.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Heartbreaking moment pardon the pun, I was just rewatching this the other night and it still hurts ot see. Not only does it suck because Bret’s career ended but also because of everything that happened after wards. Not to mention that Bret was finally getting his run as champion and WCW had some life but only for a couple of more weeks before it all ended.
"@bigfootsilva, I want to tell you a joke so funny it will make your head grow. It goes like this..Oh wait, I see you have already heard it." -Chael Sonnen
Get over it
Not included in the post is the fact that Hart’s moved on. In his book, he says he doesn’t blame Goldberg but rather poor training at the Powerplant instead. And considering what Batista had to say about Dwayne Bruce’s training methods, that sounds like the likely culprit. Hart even admitted that Goldberg warned him beforehand about the kick, saying that Goldberg was a nice guy that didn’t know his own strength. But whether it’s Goldberg or Bret, haters gotta hate I guess…
