WWE TLC results: Daniel Bryan cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase and become the World Heavyweight Champion
The WWE certainly decided to end 2011 with a bang.
On top of having YouTube favorite Zack Ryder defeat Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship, it seems Vince McMahon decided to throw us internet wrestling fans another bone.
Following The Big Show finally defeating Mark Henry in a Chairs Match for the World Heavyweight Champion, the curator of the "Hall of Pain" kept up the assault on the world's largest athlete. Taking his anger out on the newly minted champ, Henry chop blocked Show, getting the big man down to one knee before delivering a doozy of a DDT onto a chair for good measure.
But that wouldn't be the worse thing to happen to Show tonight.
Seconds later, Smackdown's Mr. Money in the Bank Daniel Bryan's music hit and with briefcase in hand, the former Ring of Honor (ROH) star and current thorn in Michael Cole's side hit the ring and decided to cash in his guaranteed shot. And with three slaps on the canvas, we have yet another new champion.
It'll be interesting to see how the storyline plays itself out. Bryan said he would wait until WrestleMania to cash in his briefcase but made an exception when he tried to use it against Henry under similar circumstances several weeks ago. The win was overturned by Teddy Long but it wasn't long until Cole -- and Bryan himself -- began the talk to hypocrisy.
Bryan explained his change in attitude by saying that beating Henry and winning the title was more important than main eventing the "Granddaddy of Them All." But The Big Show has been quite supportive of Bryan as of late so the same logic shouldn't apply.
Are we going to see a Bryan turn? Perhaps Show turns rulebreaker out of anger for what "The American Dragon" did to him? I can't wait for Smackdown this week.
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are your WWE champions, folks.
