Around SBN: The Most Dangerous Division in Sports

On this date in WWF history: Happy Birthday Trish Stratus!

Photo

On December 18, 1975, Patricia Anne Stratigias, who would later become known to legions of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans as "Trish Stratus," is born.

Stratus is widely-recognized as one of the greatest WWE Divas of all time, for her ability to combine good looks, athleticism and personality into a division that has been, and continues to be, judged primarily on appearance.

And she didn't need gimmicky matches to get over.

What she needed was someone as equally talented, which is why her ongoing feud with Lita (Amy Dumas) was ranked by WWE Magazine at number 18 in its list of top 25 greatest rivalries of all time.

Stratus retired from active competition in 2006 having been seven-time Women's Champion; one-time Hardcore Champion; three-time WWE.com Babe of the Year (2001, 2002, 2003) and cover girl on three WWE Divas Magazines.

Agreed

It’s tough for the Divas to get over with the fans, but she made it look easy without having to flaunt a ton of TnA or do Playboy appearances. She was talented, but it did help that she also had good talent around her; Lita, Molly Holly, Ivory, Mickie James, Victoria, and Gail Kim. I think she retired a bit early, I liked Heel Trish with her smirk/bow with the hand gesture, wish she continued with that.

Easily the greatest I think

And it was actually fun watching her get better in the ring.

She’s the greatest in the sense that Hogan and the Rock are the greatest. By far. And wouldnt her retirement match at unforgiven be more appropriate? Just nitpicking, as usual.

Best?

She’s the best in the respect that she had the best combination of looks, charisma and in-ring ability, even if there were other female performers who exceeded her in each category.
