Brutus Beefcake suing Linda Hogan for claiming he had homosexual relationship with Hulk Hogan
In a move that was expected, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake (real name Ed Leslie) is following Hulk Hogan's lead and suing Linda Hogan over her comments that the two professional wrestlers had a homosexual relationship.
The bloodhounds at TMZ have the story:
Beefcake tells us he plans to follow Hulk's lead ... and has already instructed his attorney to draft up the lawsuit, which he claims he will file in the very near future.
Brutus tells TMZ, "I've known [Linda] for almost 40 years ... but when she starts trying to ruin our careers, it just aint fair."
He adds, "Hulk is a tremendous person ... a great man who deserves to be happy."
Beefcake's career nowadays consists of floating around the independent scene and taking nostalgia bookings to pay the bills. That and hanging on Hogan's coattails, of course.
That said, he's got just as legitimate a gripe as The Hulkster. For Linda to assert that the two had a homosexual relationship, when they're already involved in a heavily stereotyped form of entertainment and have been best friends for years, it's not much of a leap for ignorant fans to just go along with what she says. And that's definitely damaging to his character.
What's funny about this is Linda knew this was coming. When she originally made the comment about the two having had a homosexual relationship she prefaced it by saying, "I've got to be careful not to get sued."
She wasn't careful enough, obviously.

Out of curiosity...
… how would a defendant (Linda, in this example), win this case? Would they have to provide some kind of indisputable (ie unequivocally NON platonic) evidence of a homosexual relationship? That seems like it would be nigh impossible even if the alleged relationship had happened.
She's the defense
So she just has to prove there was no malicious intent. Because Hogan is a public figure the bar is much lower. There just has to be some type of hint of a relationship. As long as she doesn’t admit in any way that she lied to sell books, I doubt she’ll lose the case.
