Dolph Ziggler talks CM Punk: Hopefully we'll get to work together on a big stage and I know we'll tear the house down

Current WWE United States Champion Dolph Ziggler recently sat down with MiamiHerald.com and talked about his match against CM Punk from Monday Night Raw two weeks ago. In evaluating his performance, Ziggler says he wasn't happy but he hopes to get to do it again.

"A lot of people enjoyed the match, and my family and friends liked it. Honestly, since last Monday, I haven't been able to sleep that well, because I really wanted that match to be one of the best ever, and it wasn't. So I have something to build toward, and hopefully we'll get to do it on a big stage, and if we do, I know we will tear the house down. I know it."

Of course a guy who bills himself as "perfection" wouldn't be happy with a match that was widely regarded as one of the best in recent memory by fans and pundits alike.

And that's what makes him so great.

Ziggler is the future of the company, and he acknowledges in the full interview that he strives every day to become the greatest of all time. As good as he is now, it's difficult to imagine he'll ever reach the heights of the greats in pro wrestling history. Realistically, can you imagine putting Dolph Ziggler up there with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Shawn Michaels?

Time will tell.

The complete interview at MiamiHerald.com is well worth the read. Check it out by clicking here.

Forget this noise...

Can you believe that SD did a 2.0???? I hope they don’t take this as a cue to have Mick come out & do more crap.

I can see him up there in the Shawn Michaels category. In the ring, definitely. He’s not of the Austin and Rock mold of wrestler but there’s no telling how his charisma will develop. That’s definitely the key. As good as he already is, he’ll need to rock the promos to make it.

It’s also interesting to note how long his US title reign has been. Right about half the year. That’s rare these days. Taken with the fact that he was Intercontinental champion for a long while previously, Ziggler’s had gold around his for nearly a year straight.

US/Intercontinental is where the action is at!

Agreed. I could see him up there in the Shawn Michaels category in time. His fantastic selling is already Shawn Michaels-level. Clearly he has the drive to succeed, so as I see it, the sky’s the limit for him if he doesn’t make too many stupid decisions.

Is Ziggler...

going to be the winner of next year’s RRumble? Since it isn’t likely Punk will be in it, my vote goes to the Zig Zag Man.
