That was awesome! (clap clap clapclapclap): Eddie Guerrero finally wins the big one
I was at work all day, grinding away selling Hurley t-shirts, Billabong hoodies, and Element sneakers. A little before 7pm, I hopped in my car and set out to my friend's house to watch TNA: Genesis.
I called him to let him know I was on my way and that's when I found out.
Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room earlier in the day.
I was heartbroken. I was a huge fan of Guerrero because for one, he was one of the only Mexican wrestlers I was alive to see that broke through the "luchador" glass ceiling. He was a bonafide draw and a main eventer. For two, he had overcome so much personally that it seemed that it was all for nothing. Being fired, nearly losing his wife, and almost dying were all obstacles that he conquered.
I was lucky enough to see his match at WrestleMania XX where he defended his newly won title against Kurt Angle but, again, because I wasn't watching wrestling during this time, I didn't actually see when he captured that ever elusive gold.
It was in San Francisco and against the manbeast known as Brock Lesnar.
Here are the last few minutes of the match.
Wonky booking aside -- referee bump and Goldberg interference -- this was an awesome, awesome match.
Seeing Guerrero hug his mom after still chokes me up to this day.
We miss you, Latino Heat.

Fourth favorite wrestler behind The Rock, SCSA, Shawn Michaels.
I lost my marbles when he died. F*ck.
I was living in Japan at the time of his death.
My friend Mike and I were both sad as hell when we found out. I was also out there when Dimebag Darrel got shot and that had me pretty pissed off too.

There will never be another Eddie
The guy was just great on the mic, could work his ass off and had some of the most hilarious gimmicks ever.
I’ll never forget the memorials they did for him and just seeing how distraught everyone was…that broke my heart.
RIP Eddie.

My personal favorite, no one else comes close. Eddie was a real hero in my eyes – to turn his life around, make amends to his family, his friends and his fans. I still miss him, but I’m grateful to have been entertained by him. Just thinking about his shrug after “lying, cheating or stealing” makes me smile.
RIP Eddie
Maslow's theory of higher needs does not apply to Patrick Willis. He only has two needs: tackling people and finding people to tackle.
How come we don't get this kind of drama in a championship match anymore?
People were really invested into the match and everyone ate it when Eddie won the title.

The list of wrestlers that I shed a tear for when they passed is a short one.
Eddie was the first.
Rest in peace, Mr. Guerrero.
