On this date in WWF history: Ken Shamrock submits Shawn Michaels on Monday Night Raw

On November 3, 1997, Shawn Michaels tapped out to Ken Shamrock's ankle lock on Monday Night Raw. Unfortunately for "The World's Most Dangerous Man," the referee was distracted by Chyna, who joined the rest of DX at ringside to help "HBK" survive.

Turns out, all he needed was Rick Rude and a steel briefcase.

Shamrock, who believe it or not actually held the WWF Intercontinental Title, the WWF Tag Team Titles and even the NWA World Heavyweight Championship (under TNA), would finish his feud with Michaels at In Your House roughly a month later.

Anyone remember Shammy's stint in the WWF? And do you remember it fondly?

I always enjoyed

his time in the WWF. Thought he was believable as a badass and could go really well. Had fun fueds with Rock and Owen (including the always overlooked Lions Den match at SS 98). I was hoping he would make it back sometime after he left.

The only things I remember with his stint in the WWF. Well that and being on the n64 game, WWF No Mercy.

A great game!

A great system! Goldeneye FTW

It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail.

I got Goldeneye on the Wii as a nostalgia rush,

and not only does the game suck, but I also do.

Main thing I remember Shammy for is his feuds with Rock

I remember that I liked him…. for a bit. His feud with HBK was alright. Shawn had that promo where he was in the wheelchair with the fake leg. Overall, I never bought that he was in any position to be a top guy.

His matches with Owen seemed to be his best. They had the Lion’s Den match and the Dungeon match.

i just remember that he would "snap" lol and he was part of the Union.

and he was involved with the Hardcore title there for a while no? with Steve Blackman and Snow?

I remember his fued with Val Venis

I remember his angle with Val Venis and his “sister”, Ryan Shamrock. Val and Ryan made the video, “Saving Ryan’s Private”. To this day, one of the most entertaining fueds ever for me.

I loved Shammy in the WWE

And yes, he ran a feud over the hardcore title with Blackman.

My favorite moment of Shamrock in the WWE was him on his knees, begging Blackman for one more chair shot, and of course Blackman obliged and busted him all up.

Wasn't it The Rock who did that

while he was feuding with the whole Nation of Domination?

Loved him.

Picked up WWE style pro wrestling like no other. Should have been booked differently to more like a monster.

Him and Kurt Angle really adapted well. Amazing individuals the two of them. Watching this really brings it back. It’s too bad his influence on pro wrestling hasn’t been greater. Wish he had come back to wrestling. Good times though. Anyone remember Dan Severn’s time in WWF?

Shamrock was doing freaking huracanas.

Angle picked up the same or better and added lots more personality. He just never had Shamrock’s killer aura. Also, I’m a Severn fan for MMA. He was fucking awful in pro wrestling!

In retrospect, I'm sad that they didn't push the Severn/Shamrock fued enough

Shamrock was pretty badass

I was a little kid back then, so obviously Stone Cold was my favorite wrestler, but Shamrock was in my top 5. Stone Cold, Undertaker, Road Dogg, Shamrock, Kane. If I reshuffled it now, Shamrock might be three, behind Undertaker and Owen Hart.
