On this date in WWF history: Bret Hart vs The Macho Man on Saturday Night's Main Event

When I was a kid growing up in the 80's, I loved WWF's Saturday Night's Main Event. Not only because it gave fans rare marquee match-ups (this was long before the monthly pay-per-views), but also because it bumped NBC's Saturday Night Live, and that made my parents pissed off.

Win-win for Hulk Holland.

One of the greatest matches I ever saw on SNME was Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart on November 28, 1987. This was a match that had it all: Great technical work, big money spots, ring psychology, a great finish and a hot crowd.

It also proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that "The Hitman" was ready for a singles run.

This is one of the bouts featured on the WWE's "Best of SNME" DVD and for good reason. So how about it Cagesiders, where does this one rank in your list of classics -- if at all?

I get the feeling that this is Live Audio Wrestling’s website.. based in Canada the way you guys go on & on about Bret Hart. I get it.. you guys are big fans.. but this is almost jock riding at this point.

I’m not a fan of Bret Hart so that pretty much nullifies your complaint. I am, however, a fan of classic matches, for which I can (usually) set aside my personal bias.

It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail.

Speaking as a huge Bret Hart fan please feel free to ride his jock all you want if one wrestler deserves it because of his in ring accolades it’s The Hitman.
