PrintOn November 24, 1997, Rocky Maivia came out with his cronies from "The Nation of Domination" to declare himself "The People's Champion" on Monday Night RAW.
Unfortunately he failed to clear it with Stone Cold Steve Austin, who set up a pre-taped vignette to lure the Nation out of the ring, setting up a black-jorted ambush from "The Rattlesnake."
Anyone else marking out over how incredibly nimble Austin was in this segment? Cat-like reflexes! And lolz at the near fall over the top rope in all the excitement.

This clip is causing me some serious reminiscence. Beepers, fanny packs, jean shirts and Memorex tapes…going on fifteen years. The Attitude Era is more dated than we like to think.
At that time, seeing the Rock evolve into a megastar was such a great thing. My favorite Rock era for sure! WWF was so freaking unpredictable back then. The show was so true to its name: RAW!

God. I miss SCSA. He and The Rock brought the best out of each other. 1997-1999 were easily the best years for wrestling for me.
Look how important they make the IC Title look. If Cody Rhodes didn’t have it now, I wouldn’t know who had it. At least they’re making it look like it’s somewhat important again. They would do well to watch matches and take some pointers from how they IC title was booked just slightly over a decade ago.
