As reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mark "Bison" Smith has passed away at the age of 38.

Bison Smith spent most of his career in Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan and the International Wrestling Association in Puerto Rico but also had a short run in 2009 for Ring of Honor.

I had seen a small amount of his work -- all of it from NOAH -- but enjoyed what little I saw. There has been an enormous outpouring of grief and remembrance on Twitter from both his fans and his contemporaries since the tragic news broke.

Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans during this sad time.

I got to see him once. He was an unknown to me.. as was most of ROH’s roster.. but I was entertained. RIP.

I was a fan, I’m sad that I won’t get to see him wrestle anymore. Just heard him on Colt Cabana’s podcast, too.

I saw him for a while here in PR. He was very entertaining, even developed a catchphrase in spanish.
