I think she was the only woman in the WWF at the time who was not a wrestler, and this was after Wendi Richter got screwed out of the title so I don’t think they were pushing the women’s division at all then anyway. (Perhaps someone else remembers when they brought in the Jumping Bomb Angels and pushed the Woman’s Tag-Team Championship for a while.)

Around that time there were relatively few really good-looking female characters in wrestling, and most of them — Sunshine, Missy Hyatt, Baby Doll if that’s your thing — were employed elsewhere. So the presence of a woman who didn’t look like she could bodyslam you was rare in the WWF at the time.
