UPDATED: As they gear up for Final Battle 2011, Ring of Honor invades Dayton and Chicago this weekend
Ring of Honor (ROH) is only 36 days away from Final Battle 2011 -- their next internet pay-per-view (iPPV) -- but their dance card is plenty full up until then.
Tomorrow (Nov. 18) starts off a double shot of action for the Philadelphia company as they travel to Dayton, OH for Survival of the Fittest before making their way to "The Windy City" Chicago, IL for the 10th annual Glory by Honor.
13 of ROH's finest enter the Survival of the Fittest tournament in hopes of joining the ranks of Chris Hero and Tyler Black while Eddie Edwards hopes to add a second notch to that particular belt. Also at stake for these men is a shot at the ROH World Title which awaits the winner. In addition to the tournament, all four champions will be in the ring at the same time as Davey Richards teams up with TV champion Jay Lethal to take on tag champions Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Hass.
Then Saturday (Nov. 19) in Chicago, ROH World Champion Davey Richards puts his title on the line against El Generico while World's Greatest Tag Team defend their straps against The All-Night Express. The "Second City" also gets to see Lethal take on former champion Roderick Strong as well as The Briscoe Brothers colliding with The Young Bucks. Three more matches including Edwards, Michael Elgin, and Jimmy Jacobs fill out the undercard on this stacked event.

This annoys me. Since September we have been watching the buildup to the WGTT-Briscoes title match at Final Battle. They had to beat the ANX twice — once with a cheap shot — to get that match. But ANX gets this title shot in November? That makes no sense. If the Briscoes are the number one contenders, then no one should be wrestling for the title until they do. Booking doesn’t have to be totally realistic, but it does need to be internally consistent. This says to me that all that buildup was meaningless — shows prior to Final Battle will be booked as if the events on the tv show didn’t happen. Suspension of disbelief is difficult enough without this sort of thing.
Yeah, that bugs me...
Too. I mean, why did ANX even bother winning the number one contendership at DBD IX only to lose to the Briscoes only to get a title shot anyway?
It seems like there’s a disconnect between the booking of their TV show, their house shows, and their iPPVs.

Mind numbing booking
DBD IX should have been the blowoff to the Briscoes/ANX feud. Considering the Briscoes went over in pretty much every other major match they had, ANX had to win to keep from coming out buried. So when they won, with the Contendership on the line, I figured it was going to be a big push for them. Meh, apparently not.
Also, stuff like this is why shooting 4 weeks of TV in one night isn’t a good thing continuity wise. Unless they start laying out their touring with their TV lining up to end at the culmination of a seperate event. The drawback to that would be 2 events a month, but damn, having a title change hands on a TV show that doesn’t air for 4 weeks will make casual fans scratch their heads.
