On this date in WWF history: The Rock vs. Mankind in a 'Deadly Game' at Survivor Series
On November 15, 1998, World Wrestling Federation (WWF) unveiled the "Deadly Game" tournament at Survivor Series for the vacant WWF championship.
The Rock defeated Mankind by submission to win the belt in a very Montreal Screwjobish-type of finish that was a catalyst for "The Brahma Bull" turning heel and joining The Corporation.
Parts 2-4, which includes stunners, McMahons and a whole lot more, after the jump.
How about it Cagesiders, what was your initial reaction to the "Deadly Game?" Was it overshadowed by the convoluted ending?

Man, look at that roster.
And, that’s leaving off quite a few pretty good guys, let alone the lower card filler types.

What the hell is a Duane Gill?? I didn’t think New Edition was into wrestling.
How is it 2 guys in the same bracket got byes?
Why is Bossman in 2 early round matches?
Good concept it seems.. lousy execution… looks like something TnA would throw together.

If I recall correctly...
Foley was supposed to be on McMahon’s side so he was placed in the weak bracket (it was supposed to be a mystery opponent, who was later revealed to be Duane Gill), and I think the reason why Boss Man was doing double duty was because Triple H (injured at that time) was supposed to be included there. Since there was a feud between Rock and McMahon before the PPV, McMahon ordered Boss Man to fill in the vacant slot. With the two BYES, I don’t remember why.
