Mick Foley teasing that he is the anonymous Raw General Manager

Photo

You can always count on Mick Foley to stoke the promotional fires in any way possible. And to have some fun while he's doing it.

He teased repeatedly that he would make his long awaited return to WWE at Hell in a Cell, which, of course, was not true but now he's back teasing involvement in a long dormant storyline that needs a fitting conclusion. That's right, Mrs. Foley's baby boy is hinting at being the anonymous Raw General Manager.

From his recent appearance on the Chad Dukes Wrestling Show:

"I'm going to stop spreading rumors. I go on Twitter on Monday nights and have some fun. I'll say things like 'Oops, hold on, I got to email Michael Cole.' ... As far as being the anonymous Raw General Manager, I'll just go on record as saying, we've never been photographed in the same place and the same time."

Foley is his usual ambiguous self but the reality is it wouldn't be a bad idea to actually have him be the anonymous Raw GM. Realistically, who else would it be? WWE has yet to totally give up on the storyline because they still set up the podium ... on most weeks. Why not finally pay it off by having that be Foley's new role. Some of his greatest successes on screen in a non-wrestling role came during his time as "commissioner." Why not give it another go? Plus, this would (hopefully) keep him from wrestling and taking big bumps, which he can no longer safely absorb after such a long career of tearing apart his body.

You Cagesiders down with this idea? Or do you have a better way to reintroduce Foley to the WWE?

re: Mick Foley

This would NOT make any sense…for one, Foley would have to explain how he was running RAW while out in the ring at TNA…physically not possible, wouldn’t someone at TNA catch him on a computer during the show? Seriously not gonna work.

I think everyone is aware that the anonymous Raw GM doesn't actually fit anyone perfectly

Foley is one of the few guys you can introduce as the GM though and people won’t mind the payoff not making perfect sense.

I hope it’s not Foley but that’s just my opinion. Gdawg is right, perfect sense rarely happens with long angles – Vince no-sold an exploding limo for one thing. There aren’t many people that can actually make this role payoff unfortunately.

What about Arn Anderson?

Really? Huh. Do you agree with Ric Flair’s opinion that Foley is nothing more than a “glorified stunt man”? Disrespect not intended; merely curious.

I like the guy, and have always enjoyed his matches, even if he isn’t the most polished in-ring performer. That, I think, is part of his charm. I have seen him perform for over 30 years, so my opinion of him isn’t made on a whim, or because he was an “Attitude Era guy”. I’ve seen Foley during the twilight of the territory days, and based my opinion on his entire body of work. I am of the general consensus here that doesn’t want to see him wrestle another match, as he would be doing himself more harm than good.

Now, I don’t think his constant yanking everybody’s chain over the internet is such a good thing. It could come back to bite him in the ass. It reminds me of the boy who cried wolf, as in when he finally does return to WWE, people will likely assume he’s still fucking with them, and dismiss it as such.

I suggested this a while back

But as Mr. Lucas points out, that has Mick on WWEs payroll at the same time he’s in a TNA ring. They could choose to overlook that small issue. Or run a “Mick Foley, Superspy” storyline. Maybe use him as Vince’s frontman for his eventual return.
As long as he takes time away from Trips, I’m good.

Talking about people getting off social media.. Foley needs to go.. everything he says is not a breaking story.. he’s jerked off the IWC so many times.. maybe they would be well served not to forward his mostly idiotic ideas. He’s going to come out of tv & give one of his promo’s slingin’ some book or tv show.. doing his normal “plug” promos… its really old.. the Foley I liked was the insane & intense person.. the other one needs to go.. its boring as shit.

Gotta say, I don't believe it

He made up rumors about maybe being at Hell in a Cell, and wasn’t there. Saying he’s may or may not be the RAW General Manager, I have no reason to believe him.

That said, it would be cool if he was.

Wasn't the Hell in a Cell quote taken out of context to the question he was asked?

I don't know

I only get my wrestling info from here, and it wasn’t clear that it was or wasn’t.
