On this date in WWF history: The Rockers win the tag team titles -- but don't get to keep them

On October 30, 1990, "The Rockers" (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) won the WWF tag team championship by defeating "The Hart Foundation" (Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart) in a two-out-of-three falls match at a television taping in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

They went on to defend their newly-won titles, successfully, just a few days later against the tag team of "Power & Glory" (Hercules Hernandez and Paul Roma).

Neither of those bouts would ever make a televised broadcast.

That's because the WWF stripped The Rockers of the tag team titles and gave them back to The Hart Foundation.

But why?

"HBK" said in his book that "The Hitman" pulled a Hulkster and politicked his way back into the title. Other reports claim that Neidhart was being fired, which necessitated the change, but then took the titles back when the promotion reached an amicable agreement with "The Anvil."

Or maybe the match was just so bad, thanks to a broken ring rope, that no amount of editing could splice together something that didn't flat-out embarrass the product.

Whatever the reason, The Rockers wore the gold for a few days, even though the WWE still refuses to acknowledge it.

Indiana screwjob.

Sorry, I still believe Hart first.

-Probably because he’s never had consumption issues or refused to drop titles except to Michaels. Interesting how he likes to paint others with that brush, though.

Always thought it odd they never got the belts

I knew about this cluster. Wonder what they would’ve done if the rope hadn’t broken to give them an easy out?

Controversy created in my home town.

Someone once called Mr. T, Mr. Coffee...his body was found in a dumpster shortly after.
