On this date in WWF history: Triple H has 'No Mercy' for Stone Cold Steve Austin

On October 17, 1999, Triple H defended his WWF Championship against Stone Cold Steve Austin in their classic "Anything Goes" match to close out the promotion's No Mercy pay-per-view.

A run-in from The Rock was a pre-cursor to their future angle and as with any match involving "The Rattlesnake," we get play-by-play announcer Jim Ross saying everything in triplicate.

"No! No! No!"

How about it Cagesiders, forgotten classic? Or just forgotten?

I was there live. First PPV ever.

The Hardy Boyz vs Edge and Christian in a ladder match stole the show. This was pre-TLC days, so what they did was revolutionary at the time.

Yanks are the Empire. Red Sox are the Empire with PR claiming they are the Rebellion.
