Yet Another Update in the Sonnen Saga: The UFC Suspends Chael Sonnen
TMZ Sports spoke with UFC president Dana White:
Just yesterday, Sonnen pled guilty to money laundering in connection with mortgage fraud -- and now UFC president Dana White tells us Sonnen's contract has been temporarily "frozen."
But White isn't turning his back on one of his most famous fighters -- Dana tells us, "Chael Sonnen has gone through a lot in the last few months and we think it's important for him to focus on getting his personal life together before focusing on his career in the UFC."
White adds, "I spoke with Chael earlier today and he agrees that setting priorities in his life is the best thing for him right now. I sincerely hope Chael is able to straighten out his personal life."
It is safe to assume that his scheduled bout with Yoshihiro Akiyama has been scrapped, and will not appear again in the octagon for quite some time. The story has been evolving quickly, we'll keep updating as more information comes out regarding this peculiar story.

This translates as
We don’t want to be implicated in any legal shit he’s dealing with right now, but still want to be the place he fights at in the future.
The one thing I don’t get is taking glee in this whole situation.
Luke: What was our best moment?
Nate: When I banned Subo?
Luke: That was a good one.

I am personally neutral on the whole thing…we know a ton of people hate him for being too “pro wrestling”, and then others have legit reasons for disliking the guy…for me, I like him as a fighter, and couldn’t care less for him as a person.
The biggest shame is that we don’t get to see him fight, or gauge where he is as a draw after fighting Anderson Silva and doing so well. We’ll eventually get to, but who knows how long this suspension may last.
