Bracket Released for Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament
Personally, I would have swapped Overeem/Werdum with Barnett/Rogers, and crossed my fingers for Overeem/Fedor final, but it's nice to see Strikeforce amping up for this. This has potential to be huge for Strikeforce, if the fighters participating follow through, and the media push is strong. Who do you have winning this?

Agreed, it doesn’t make sense to have the 2 favorites to face each other in the semifinals. I’ll go with the Overeem/Fedor winner over Rogers in the final
Interesting prediction with Rogers. Do you say that because you think he’ll beat Barnett, or because you think he’ll face someone other than Barnett, and beat him?

Makes no sense
The presumed #1, #2, and #3 seeds are all on the left side of the bracket.
And I really don’t see Fedor agreeing to face Overeem prior to the final.
I agree, seems like that would actually be one of M-1’s demands for participating in the tournament.

Do you think
Fedor is going to refuse to fight Overeem because it isnt the final? That makes no sense to me.
Werdum beat Fedor, Dos Santos beat Werdum, Joaquim Ferreira beat Dos Santos. Therefore Ferreira is WAAAAY better than Fedor. Keep MMA math alive!
Look at M-1 Global’s history with negotiations…a Fedor/Overeem Final would do better business than a semi-final…they want to maximize profit, and maximize the amount of eyes that are on Fedor. Not saying Fedor himself would refuse to fight, but his management might have other plans.

I actually dig these brackets
Werdum vs Overeem 2.0 needs to happen, of course. Plus, you have a near guaranteed must-see semi final with either Fedor/Overeem or Fedor/Werdum II (Sorry, I just don’t see Silva winning this). While on the other side Strikeforce will have created the next #1 contender, with two wins over substantial competition.

I was thinking, do they really want Barnett in the final?
Because the brackets are really favorable for him to get there. Wonder what the reasoning is.
Why is everyone freaking out about the brackets?
The brackets are perfect as they are. They are lining it up so that the title condenders come in for Alastair logically. Reem fights Werdum as he should. Werdum earned it by beating Fedor. Then the winner fights the winner of Silva/Fedor. That should be a no brainer. Then the fighter emerging from Barnett, Rogers, Arlovski and the Kharitonov on the other side of the bracket will have a shot at the champ (whoever that may be, but I am betting on Reem and rooting for Fedor). From a respecting the SF belt, this line up makes the most sense. Makes no sense to give the lowest seed the title shot right out of the gate… does it?
Werdum beat Fedor, Dos Santos beat Werdum, Joaquim Ferreira beat Dos Santos. Therefore Ferreira is WAAAAY better than Fedor. Keep MMA math alive!
No one is saying that Werdum shouldn’t fight Overeem first (not here at least), what we’re saying is that it’s odd they’d not put Fedor and Overeem on opposite sides, so they could potentially meet in the finals. As it is, the winner of the right side will be a significant underdog going into the finals.

Very logical matchups, but I agree about that Fedor/Silva and Overeem/Werdum should have been on opposite ends of the spectrum. I think Fedor/Overeem, and Barnett/Arlovski, with a Fedor-Barnett final.
"Dawson was NOT a hype job. Dude schooled Adamek, beat Tarver twice (neither competitive), beat Johnson twice (once close, once a wipeout) and even beat Harding when Harding was still good. That is not hype. Those are results. I love how people see a guy lose once and all of a sudden nothing they ever did means anything. You are dead wrong."
