No, he didn’t, but he was brought in to lose, and he knew it. He had also been getting his shit pushed in for the vast majority of that round. I’m on the fence. As a stoppage itself, it’s not too good, Carson is obviously conscious, arms are up and blocking, Herschel gets on top, throws a few punches, and it’s over. I don’t care because it’s Walker, and Carson was done anyways, but if this was a fight that really mattered, I’d be bummed because of the stoppage. That’s why I put up a poll, I’m curious to see how people feel about it.

Personally
I think the ref was conscious of the main stream attention this fight would garnished and didnt want anything near a bloodbath of unnecessary strikes.
Given the nature of the round, and how it proceeded- no problems with the stoppage. But I can definitely see having a problem with that stoppage in a more competitive match. Once could recover from that, if ya know… they had a chance in the first palce.

I don't know.
It’s hard to say from the angles I’ve seen. It’s a lot easier to tell when you can see their eyes, but it looks to me like the ref was jumping in to stop it as soon as Carson fell to the floor. So on that basis, the ref was calling the fight because of what he saw A.)buckling knees B.)slumping to the floor and possibly C.) he may have had a better angle on Carson’s face.
On those criteria, it’s a good stoppage.
However, in the few seconds before the ref gets there, we see Carson throw his hands up and move a little, which gives the indication of a poor stoppage.
As a fan, I hate to see guys get pounded on for a couple seconds on the floor after they’ve clearly been knocked out on the feet, but I also don’t like to see fights stopped early.
I still don’t know here. I initally voted “Yes” but after thinking it through, I’m going to side with the ref because it’s such a split-second decision and this one was really close either way.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

Even though it was an early stoppage, I thought it was a good stoppage.
Walker hurt him the first time and pounded Carson away when he turtled up without resistance. They are standing again and Walker proceeded to knock his block off. Sitting upright against the cage isn’t the most advantageous position. I’m sure Walker would’ve pounded away ala BJ against Sherk.
