From the transcription of Chael Sonnen's manager Mike Roberts interview on "The MMA Hour" at MMA Fighting:
"[Sonnen] was never suspended," Roberts said Monday on The MMA Hour. "Dana just thought it would be in Chael's best interest to get his life together and get everything cleared up in his personal life, that when he comes back to fight, it's going to be all about the fight."
So, Sonnen and UFC president Dana White mutually agreed that Sonnen should take a hiatus from the UFC until all legal issues are squared away. Cracking open a thesaurus and looking up the word "suspension" we see words like pause, break, interruption, and intermission. Those are all words that adequately explain Sonnen's current situation with the UFC. I understand why Roberts would want to push away from the term "suspension", bad people get "suspended", it is typically a form of punishment...and Chael Sonnen is a man who does not deserve to be punished!
...Right?
