Cageside Quote - Jon Fitch Says "I Can Beat Anderson Silva and GSP"
From the good folks at MMA Junkie:
"We have a philosophy at our gym that it would be much better to have three belts at AKA than to have two belts, and then send two guys to fight for the same belt. So I feel like I can beat Anderson Silva, too, and GSP."
....
"Just like the other guys who want to fight the best in the world, I'm the same way. It's always been my intention to clear out 170 and move up. It's just one guy left, and I've been chasing him since the last loss, and I'll continue to chase him until I beat him and get the Welterweight title and move up."
I guess this is their new way to spin why they don't want to fight each other. By they, I mean the guys at AKA. Personally, I'd love to see Fitch move up to 185. He's right, he's pretty much cleaned out 170 and now they're having him do laps. No one wants to see some of the matchups that are there for him. Unfortunately for Fitch, he's not going to beat Georges St. Pierre. He just doesn't have the skill set. After what Chael Sonnen was able to do to Anderson Silva, he might have the exact game to defeat the Middleweight champion. What do you think? Could you see Fitch with the title at 185?

I really do think Fitch could get Anderson.
A reasonable look back at Silva’s career shows that he really, REALLY struggles against wrestlers of pretty much any caliber. Hell, Travis Lutter was able to give him everything he could handle until he screwed up and handed him a triangle.
Fitch would be nearly as good at blanketing him as Chael was, and while it wouldn’t be pretty, Fitch would grind out a dominant positional control win. Jon Fitch doesn’t hand out submissions, and he doesn’t stay where he’s in danger.
Anderson’s bubble has been burst, in my opinion. Chael said it best when he said he’s beaten the myth. I think that much is clear. Still, Silva’s hell on anyone who doesn’t have a combination of good/great chin and excellent wrestling.
If I was a hungry man with a gun in my hand and some promises to keep...
As importantly, the standing acumen to get in for that takedown
As the WTF moment was Chael Sonnen actually outstriking Anderson on the feet.
