According to Dave Meltzer on his September 21st Wrestling Observer Radio show, Efrain Escudero was cut by Dana White to send a message to fighters that you can't have boring fights and they can't miss weight.

That’s Dave’s interpretation of the cut. While he’s probably right about missing weight, Efrain wasn’t so much boring (his destruction of Cole Miller was anything but), he just didn’t ‘show up’ against Oliveira. Just general unprofessionalism.

Meltzer is just stirring the pot when he says ‘boring’.

Well,

I wouldn’t put it past Dana to have cut him for just that reason. Or at least to tell people that to get the word out and scare guys into having more exciting fights. There were times in the Oliveira fight that he was stalling to avoid certain spots.

Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

The key factor is, you have to be boring and lose. Which is kind of a no brainer as to why you’d no longer have a job. Miss weight on top of that? You need to find a new profession.

Pretty much.

He wasn’t living up the they hype. Maybe he can go crush a few guys in Strikeforce or Bellator and make his way back but I’m not counting on it.

It’s funny, he beat Phillipe Nover who Dana was throwing all these superlatives on, and now both are out of the UFC. Without doubt the talent pool for TUF has been drying up with better (at least in the immediate short term) offers from the likes of Strikeforce and Bellator.
