Matt Hardy becomes the latest wrestler to flip out on Twitter, looks wasted on YouTube, then gets sent home by WWE

Was Matt Hardy sent home early from the European tour because he was in no condition to perform? His strange behaviour on Twitter and YouTube beforehand aren't encouraging signs. (Wikimedia Commons)

Matt Hardy, known for his ill advised outspoken Twitter outbursts and wasted narcissistic YouTube videos, was at it again yesterday, this time giving a series of lame critiques via his Twitter feed to online pro wrestling writers:

Gonna do something I've never done. The IWC "pro wrestling writers" always critize us-now I'm gonna critize them-this wil be interestesting.

Mr. Woodward is very respectful & actually has an understanding of our product.. He gets it, & I respect him for it-keep up the good work.

N Bazar gets it to a degree-he respect the hard work the boys put it-he's a fair critic.

WK & JC just try 2 make themselves seem cool & witty & they're not. They're like a tabloid-opinions & gossip. Try & report what counts guys.

Meltzer tries to report & cover the facts, which I appreciate. Unlike WK & JC who trash the boyz to stir it up 2 feel like they have power.

JP at .net tries to stick to the facts, which is what a journalist should do if they respect the business, can't say the same for his staff

Shore, who works under JP, is a complete moron & has no business writing anything about the business, he's from NC-hope to meet him 1 day..

And JP's other guys are hit & miss, mainly miss. Fact is, if you've never REALLY worked in the business, u don't know the business. Period.

I just woke up & felt like writing-I was inspired. Whether u love me or hate me, I've sacrificed my body (willingly) for this business.

Cuz even when I'm gone, the guys busting their asses for this business should be respected if you're a true "fan" or "journalist"

I don't want to leave out the IWC writers that are respectful of the boyz & business-Thank You. There's some out there, not gonna deny it.

The last year I've dealt with overwhelming, out of my control physical issues, but kept on keepin on. Glad some guys had fun at my expense.

That's what prob triggered my tweets tonight. But times are a changin.. and it wont be just physically.. it's also mentally.. I AM AWAKE!

Realize this-no one can affect me, rattle me, or intimidate me-I have no fear or doubt in this world. Cuz I worked hard to get myself there.

So on that note, Good Night World.. Go here & watch everything.. http://bit.ly/9Wk2eZ :)

Someone going on a bender on Twitter is never a good sign, but at least he came across as slightly more coherent than Kevin Nash did on Friday.  That wasn't the only bad sign, as in Matt Hardy's latest YouTube video he comes across pretty doped up as he converses with the fans in Aberdeen, Scotland before wrestling at a house show on Friday:

So the news that he's been sent home early from the European tour for unspecified reasons should come as little surprise:

--WWE officials have confirmed Matt Hardy was sent home one day early from the European tour, which ends today.  The WWE released no other details as to why.  Hardy did work yesterday's show in Minehead, England.

Hardy’s been a mess for a while now, Which is obvious to anyone who has taken a look at his twitter and/or youtube videos where he’s often drunk out of his mind, depressed and rambling about the state of his career. It’s astounding that WWE management has seemingly only just noticed this and done something. They weren’t aware of his odd behaviour till now?

I’ve also heard that he’s become known within the company for sometimes sending strange and unusual text messages to people and there’s a real concern for his mental health as well as whatever substance abuse problems he has.

I’m sympathetic towards the talent about the European tours being gruelling but Matt is really messed up sounding on that video.

I guess let the crazy like a fox theories commence about this is his way of going to TNA.

Hardy reminds me a bit of Joanie Laurer: emotionally vulnerable, rather needy person, who gets into wrestling, has some success and for a while the attention they crave, but as soon as their career hits the skids, finally falls apart and just turns into a complete mess.

Easy to forget, like Chyna, he used to be so normal. But it seems the combination of Lita leaving him, injuries (presumably leading to painkiller issues) and finally hitting the glass ceiling and realizing his career would never go any further, just drove him over the edge.

And that glass ceiling is so unforgiving.

Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
