[Spoilers] - Why in the hell is Hulk Hogan apparently still scheduled to wrestle at TNA's Bound For Glory PPV?
As has been documented in a few brief updates at Cageside Seats this week, Hulk Hogan has spent much of the week doped up on pain pills in hospital after his back problems flared up again so severely Sunday night that his fiancee Jennifer McDaniel had him rushed straight to the emergency room. If this wasn't disturbing enough, Hogan claimed on the Bubba the Love Sponge show that these problems were caused merely by spending too long picking up seashells with Jennifer while two bottles of wine dulled the pain. Hogan told TMZ that the injury was believed to be a muscle tear in his back. The injury was so serious that Eric Bischoff even went to visit him yesterday:
On a plane headed home. Been on the road for 6 days and looking forward to getting back to Wyo. Visited Hulk this am. I feel for him. He's been through so much over the past couple of years and has evolved into such a positive person. Hate seeing him in so much pain. He has a great heart and know he will get through this like he has everything else and will then enjoy the "second half". Can't come soon enough.
As Bischoff alluded to, Hogan earlier this year had two back operations, which obviously failed to fix his problems. So how did TNA management react to this medical emergency, given that Hogan had long been rumoured to return to the ring at their next PPV Bound For Glory? Did they call an audible and change directions? Find out after the jump.
According to the spoilers online for the September 30th Impact, while Hogan was still in the hospital, they announced that Hogan would indeed wrestle at Bound For Glory tagging up with Samoa Joe and Jeff Jarrett against Kevin Nash, Sting and The Pope. Either this is yet another case of TNA management disingenuously teasing something that they know isn't going to happen or another case of TNA management showing a reckless disregard for the health and wellbeing of one of their performers. I hope for Hogan's sake it's the former. I agree with what Dave Meltzer of www.f4wonline.com had to say about this in his September 13th Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
Between that and two back operations, him being in the ring at this stage isn’t a good idea. If this was 1996 as Hogan being on PPV meant $600,000 for him and millions of extra dollars for the company, that’s one thing. Today, the idea of Hogan wrestling on PPV will mean very little.
Exactly! The few thousand extra buys a Hulk Hogan PPV wrestling performance will draw in today's environment is not worth risking Hogan's health for.

I’m not even sure he would bring in a few more thousand. Does anybody really want to watch Hogan wrestle anymore? He hasn’t had a good match in over 5 years and that was only because HBK was his opponent and he decided to have fun with him. Hogan brings nothing to the table in pro wrestling anymore. That’s just the truth about it. TNA is promoting him being there but there is no way he’ll be working that date. Just no way.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

Hogan's looking to be Randy The Ram
We all know how movie studios make shitty direct to dvd sequels of movies. Clearly Hogan is upping the antiy to get the role of Randy The Ram for The Wrestler II
