Already. Just a few hours ago I posted that I thought it was ludicrous that Dana was saying that the winner of Fitch-Alves this Saturday at UFC 117 would earn the next title shot. I said I thought he would quickly go back on his word and sure enough he does in this interview with Ariel Helwani.

but he tried to say that the Fitch-Alves winner was getting the next shot at the pre fight presser. I figured he was just saying that to build the fight and sure enough he comes out with this and suddenly says, “everyone is in the mix.”

True enough. I still think it’ll be Fitch/Alves though, unless Jake does something absolutely insane.

then they’ll have at least a 7 month lay off. I’m not a fan of that.

Agreed, but what do you do in the mean time? Make the winner fight Jake? Then you eliminate a challenger. The winner of this fight is the undisputed # 2 in the world. It’s tough to come up with another fight to “qualify” them for a title shot.
