Dragon Gate USA's first show of the weekend was at the Celebrity Theater (where they will also be running tonight's show), a theater in the round with the ring on the elevated stage in the middle.  They were going out of their way to provide a friendly atmosphere, where the fans could be the wrestlers, plus giving discounts off tickets if you had bought tickets for the ROH show running at the same time and decided to skip it to see DGUSA (At least ROH already got their money, so is.

Pre-show match: Brad Allen won a "fray" rules battle royal

There was a 30 minute break before the main show started, during which the general admisson fans were moved closer to the ring to help fill out the floorspace closer to the ring, as the attendance was described by the Torch contributor as "spotty."  They also shot a segment with Bob Saget for his A&E reality show where Jon Moxley and Yamato menaced him until BxB Hulk teleported out of whichever alternate universe looks like Yaoi fiction to make the save.

They also filmed a spot with Bob Saget for his A&E documentary before the show. Bob Saget came out as special guest ring announcer, with humorous results. Jon Moxley and Yamato intimidated him until BxB Hulk intervened.

  1. Open the Dream Gate Champion YAMATO defeated Luke Hawx
  2. Genki Horiguchi & Susumu Yokosuka defeated Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw
  3. Open the Dream Gate Champion YAMATO defeated T.J. Perkins by submission
  4. Jon Moxley & Brian Kendrick defeated Jimmy Jacobs & Paul London [Teddy Hart came out after the match and was attacked by Jacobs and London]
  5. Masato Yoshino defeated Shingo
  6. La Parka & El Hijo del Rey Misterio Jr. (the son of Rey Misterio Sr. and therefore the cousin of Rey Misterio Jr./Rey Mysterio, he's taylored his look to being a copy of his cousin's, from the mask to the muscles to the contact lenses to the tattoos) defeated GQ Gallow & Derek Niekirk. [The fan who sent the report in to the Torch site called this "by far the hottest match," with the Lucha fans and AZ indy fans of the American team trying to out-shout each other while chanting for their preferred team.]
  7. Dragon Gate USA champion BxB Hulk defeated Naruki Doi to retain the Open the Freedom Gate Title
  8. CIMA, Gamma, & Dragon Kid defeated Jack Evans, & The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson/Generation Me)

ROH started this Wrestlemania weekend tradition in 2004 when WWE ran Wrestlemania 20 in a market (New York at Madison Square Garden) relatively close to of their usual venues (the Rex Plex in Rahway, New Jersey) in a show that was also notable for being the first ROH show after original owner Rob Feinstein was caught up in a Perverted Justice bust on Phildelphia's NBC affiliate.  The success of the show, which was before their biggest crowd to date, led to it becoming an annual event.  Anyway, last night's show at Phoenix College's North Gym (where today's matinee show will be held) kicked off the 7th annual attempt at trying to benefit from the world's biggest gathering of wrestling fans.  Bryan Alvarez said of F4WOnline that it looked like "a pretty good crowd" in terms of size but didn't have any attendance figures yet.

  1. Colt Cabana defeated Shawn Daivari, Joey Ryan, Johnny Goodtime, Skullkrusher Raschke Brown, and Human Tornado in a six-way match
  2. Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli defeated Scott Lost & Scorpio Sky {Claudio did a giant swing from the powerbomb position onto BOTH of his opponents into a powerbomb to set up the finish]
  3. Alex Kozlov defeated Rocky Romero
  4. Necro Butcher fought Bison Smith to a no contest in a wild brawl
  5. Kevin Steen defeated Kenny Omega
  6. Steve Corino defeated El Generico
  7. ROH Champion Tyler Black defeated Austin Aries in a non-title match
  8. Roderick Strong defeated ROH Champion Tyler Black in a non-title match
  9. Jerry Lynn defeated Kenny King in a hardcore match
  10. ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoe Brothers defeated Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards to retain the titles [Alvarez noted that the undercard was clearly paced to build up to and not outshine this match, the usual Briscoes style match with all of the big moves]

Stay tuned to Cageside Seats for coverage today's ROH matinee, as well as tonight's DGUSA show and WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony (which airs in part on USA Network from 11 PM to 12 AM ET), as well as Wrestlemania 26 itself tomorrow night at 7 PM ET, which we will liveblogging with up to the minute coverage.
