CARTHAGE - Jeff Hardy, a professional wrestler from Cameron who was arrested last year on drug charges, plans to plead guilty in court next month, according to the Moore County district attorney.
Moore County deputies raided Hardy's home in September 2009 after Fayetteville police received a tip about drug use there.
Lawmen found about 262 doses of Vicodin, a prescription painkiller, 180 Soma prescription pills, 55 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He faces several drug charges.
Hardy, 33, is the current world champion of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling on the Spike TV cable channel.
Nothing is said on if he is pleading out to lesser charges or they have finally made a deal on a guilty charge, so he may not get any Jail time .
The Fay Observer elaborated a little:
At a court appearance earlier this month, Hardy's lawyer, James Van Camp, told the judge his client intends to plead guilty at his hearing Jan.20, District Attorney Maureen Krueger said.
Krueger would not comment on whether Hardy would be offered a deal in exchange for his plea, or whether he would be able to avoid jail time.
Van Camp did not return numerous phone messages seeking comment.
Matt Hardy, seemingly deciding AP, Charlotte Observer, the Moore County DA, the dirtsheets, ummm...Jeff''s own lawyer and everyone else in the free world are once again out to tarnish the good names of the Hardy Boyz and are lying, has taken to his Twitter (what else?) to deny the story.
As a quick reminder to everyone, don't believe everything u read, there are several inaccurate facts floating around & the media loves them.
How exactly TNA will deal with a reigning world champion who pleads guilty to drug charges remains to be seen.

The guilty plea suggests that Hardy’s lawyer thought they would lose the case if they went to trial and that Hardy would get a much more lenient sentence by not contesting the charges.
The embarrassment of having their World champion, Jeff Hardy, plead guilty on drug charges is the just deserts for TNA, who have been exceedingly willing to turn a blind eye to his bad habits, so much so that they kept their World title on him at their last PPV despite Hardy turning up in no condition to perform.
It’s also just deserts for Jeff himself, who was stupid enough to recently allow his manipulative older brother to publish on YouTube a video of him cutting a promo on Matt’s bitter enemy CM Punk, while clearly high and speaking in positive tones about his own drug use.
It would be cool if they put Matt Hardy in jail. Just because.

With all the negative publicity TNA should have moved earlier to take the belt off of Hardy! But it just drives the point home on how small time, and poorly run TNA is. It might not be too far fetched to state with Reaction being canceled recently that TNA might not be around much longer on Spike who themselves can’t be too happy with TNA’s decision to keep the title on someone facing felony drug charges! Even with a plea to a lesser charge, the damage is done. And it might not be the only hits the company takes on it’s way out.

TNA needs a likeable face to hold the belt
