Denying our fans the right to vote, denying them their First Amendment rights, regardless if they are Democrat, Republican or Independent, is un-American, unconstitutional and blatantly discriminatory.
Vince McMahon falsely claims that the state of Connecticut threatens WWE fans' right to vote, because Connecticut Secretary of State, Susan Bysiewicz, advised town clerks to consider prohibiting voters from wearing WWE clothing to the polls, as it could be construed as an inappropriate piece of political paraphernalia in favour of his wife Linda.

Silly Vince...
You know there was a huge uproar about electioneering during the Obama election and all kinds of urban legend emails were circulating telling people if they wore any t-shirts or gear they would be refused the right to vote and same thing around Michelle Obama that one time she was voting early too I think. And I was reading online where they quote Vince saying, "This opinion seems overtly partisan, and anytime the state starts arbitrarily denying citizens the right to vote, democracy itself is under attack. We’re very concerned at this point that they may soon decide to prohibit Vietnam veterans from voting." Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/44043.html
It all just seems silly to me for three reasons: 1.) Most states have overturned the electioneering laws due to a conflict with 1st amendment statutes and the ones who still have electioneering laws are pretty lax with them and have the stance that it usually has to be a downright gang of demonstrators for them to say anything to them. 2.) The electioneering laws state that when entering the polls, within x amount of feet, you cover or remove anything that might promote your candidate to other voters. It does not state anywhere that you will be prohibited from voting at all once you comply with that request. Vince seems to be overreacting or not understanding this fact when he made his statement. 3.) Where does he get the leap from the WWE t-shirts to the ban on Vietnam Vets getting to vote? Is it cause of the vet who is in politics in CT? The reference seems inflammatory and just plain silly to me.
Furthermore, I figure voting is a right, just like driving is, and we have to learn the rules of the road and comply with the laws about our driving, even if we think they are overly cautious and silly sometimes. We just have to educate ourselves about the laws around our right to vote, whether it be electioneering or whatever, and abide by them or else we need to lobby to have them changed. Griping about it won’t change anything, it just makes you look silly, Vince.
You know, based on other media posts I have seen lately, being affiliated in any way with the WWE paraphernalia doesn’t seem to have been promoting Linda in a positive light if you ask me, and if it does, I really don’t think it has worked in her favor in this election anyway, she is lost in the polls. But I guess I can also see why they are trying to say that it is a slippery slope.
Personally, although it is stereotypical of me to say, I highly doubt there are a ton of people out there crushed they can’t wear their WWE gear to the voting booths now. What will the election judeges do if the few fans that are voting all show up with junk written on their bare bellies instead though? Maybe they need to have some plain, white, size 3XL tees on hand for them to cover up with. (threw that one in for Luke Thomas) sorry Geno.
