somebody had to do it

but it still pisses me off that shawn michaels (and now hhh) have taken the crippler cross face as their own. i first noticed michaels started using it about a year after benoit got made famous, and at the time it really rubbed me the wrong way. as someone who marked out for benoit all throughout the '90s, it just really seemed wrong to me that the move would be brought out.

but seeing it used tonight, i think i might actually be able to say that it's not so much that they're using the move that pisses me off. what's pissing me off now is who is using the move. noone benefits in any way by these two jackasses taking the move as their own. it doesn't advance a storyline, it doesn't give anyone heat, it just kinda has become a nameless, faceless, pointless move.

now, if tyson kidd, on the other hand, was using the crippler crossface as his finisher, that'd be more cringe inducing than anything seen in the WWE in the last 18 months. randy orton, as much as i love him, couldn't do anything near as creepy, near as disturbing as a canadian, draping himself in the flag of canadia, straddling the line between real, true life horror and storyline kayfabe by bringing up that awful moment each and every week.

human beings, who are almost unique in their ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

oh, and can we get a brian christopher special for kofi kingston now?

someone needs to call him out for being the kind of ratfuck turncoat he’s shown himself to be. where’s punk when you need him? where’s JBL?
