UFC 103 Preview Video Hits the Net

1031_medium

The days after a big event are usually pretty sad for an MMA fan:  even if your favorite fighter won, you have to wait at least a week to watch some solid live fights again.  August was supposed to be a month of non-stop fights with UFC 101, WEC 42, Affliction Trilogy, Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg, and UFC 102.  One of those got cancelled and one of those got half-destroyed by bad luck, so the month become somewhat less action-packed.  Fear not, for Zuffa has another fight on the way as they fight for global MMA domination and control of our thin wallets.  UFC 103 will feature Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort and Cro-Cop vs. Junior Dos Santos as co-main events.  If that doesn't get you excited, what will?

The rather lengthy preview video and full fight card after the jump.

Me and Snowden going to this card. He will have better seats. Kind of a weak mix here. Do we expect entertainment, let alone a good PPV buyrate?

C buyrates have broken a plateau and the bigger cards will be hitting 1,000,000 on the regular.

I think it will at least break 500,000. It seems like the UFC buy-rates have broken a plateau recently and the bigger cards will be hitting 1,000,000 on the regular. No title on the line will hurt this but it’s breaking in a new market (Dallas) and has enough names to do better than any of the European cards have done.

Breaking a new market may affect the gate, but I don’t see how it affects the PPV buys. I like the two AKA fights and Cro Cop. Everything else is blah….

Paul Daley’s fight could be an exciting debut. It’ll also be nice to see Vladi come back. I think the top five fights all have awesome potential. The undercard isn’t the most exciting but not all of them can be.

I meant that breaking in a new market may be a consolation for the lower PPV buy-rate.
