The Baltimore Sun Top 20 Wrestlers: Real Men Do 500

Over at the Baltimore Sun, blogger Kevin Eck has made his own list in response to Pro Wrestling Illustrated's yearly list of the 500 best wrestlers in the world. While Eck surely means well, the whole fun of the PWI list is seeing which long retired wrestlers make it and which skinny local jobbers are going to fill the 300-500 spots. Any jerk can make a top 20. Here is one such list.

6. JEFF HARDY
7. CHRIS JERICHO
8. THE UNDERTAKER
9. SAMOA JOE
10. KURT ANGLE

11. BATISTA

15. SHAWN MICHAELS

17. VLADIMIR KOZLOV
18. MATT HARDY
19. BOOKER T.
20. JEFF JARRETT

It was very brave of him to include no foreign or Indy talent. Very brave indeed. At least PWI gave this guy a moment to share with his grandkids. While lists are by their nature subjective, allow me to say that this list is the worst of all such lists.

Comment from the article about Verne May:

He’s not a wrestler, he’s a actor that plays out a script in the ring. Jonathan Rioux is a wrestler. Ari Taub is a wrestler, Daniel Igali is a wrestler ( I met him once,really cool guy). These “Pro Wrestling” people are part of a culture that is awash with drug abuse and IMO calling them wrestlers is a huge insult to the people who actually are wrestlers. I know it sounds like I’m going overboard but i have had dealings with these people before in regards to the health of a family member and these “Pro Wrestling” people are a group with extremely low morals. Like anything else it of course doesn’t mean they are all like that and i don’t mean to paint them all with the same brush but when i read the title of the story ""Wrestler hired to take charge of security at RDC"" , I assumed it was going to be a legit wrestler ( Red Deer has produced many ). I was a bit disappointed when i seen who they were referring to.
