Triple H: "Some people think we're scheming all the time to improve our own situations. But the more people we make stars, the more money we all make, and everyone's happy."
There's an interview with Triple H in the latest issue of Powerslam where he discusses making new stars. PWTorch.com has a good summary of it. Notable excerpts include
- HHH pretending that he worked the loop in a bunch of territories when he had 2 years of indy experience in Killer Kowalski's IWF before going to WCW and working TV tapings for a year and then going to the WWF where he's been for 14+ years now. This is part of a larger point about WWE being a "victim of their own success" killing the territories where wrestlers could learn.
- "Some people think [Michaels and I are] scheming all the time to improve our own situations. But the more people we make stars, the more money we all make, and everyone's happy."

i've gotta admit
until just a little while ago, i’d have never thought HHH would let his ego get out of the way long enough to do what he’s been doing. not only did he put legacy over in a PPV, but he built them up as his equal, and somewhere along the way, somehow, cody rhodes has developed into a usable talent, which i never really thought would ever happen.
and the thing with kofi was just great for all involved. that jamaican thing needed to go. it might’ve been better, though if they’d worked mike adamle in there, somehow.
“You put C.M. Punk in a 30-minute match with The Undertaker, it’s 50-50 all the way and then Punk wins clean, the fans won’t accept it. It does nothing for C.M. Punk, and it’s also detrimental to the Undertaker,” Hunter said. “Some people think we’re (HBK and himself) scheming all the time to improve our own situations. But the more people we make stars, the more money we all make, and everyone’s happy.”
someone tell this to clark kent…i mean john deere…or whoever that jackass was from last night.
human beings, who are almost unique in their ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
it’s just smart business
in some ways, i agree with him totally. guys need to be built up slowly in order for fans to accept them. and the success of WWE has shown that they haven’t been damaged by this approach for the past decade. they’ve been able to open their brand to new markets and continue to earn a profit. i can’t hate.
this is exactly why i don’t mind what’s happening with punk. why get angry if he loses a belt? he’s getting exposure, right? he’s still hated, right? winning the belt 3 different times means something and punk should do well financially in the long term because of it. smart marks, be happy for a change!
