WWE Bragging Rights Preview

Bragging Rights

Tomorrow night, WWE presents their first annual(?) Bragging Rights PPV, which is ostensibly a show designed to foster competition between the Raw and Smackdown brands over who has the better talent and/or show.  The main event is a 7-on-7 tag match where five of the members of Team Smackdown were switched out for combatants with slightly more star power just last night.  The new matchup is Team Raw of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger and Cody Rhodes vs. Team Smackdown of Chris Jericho, R-Truth, Finlay, Kane, Matt Hardy, David Hart Smith, and Tyson Kidd.

On a smaller scale, there will be a Raw Divas vs. Smackdown Divas match.  Raw will be represented by Melina, Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim, while Smackdown caption Michelle McCool teams with Beth Phoenix and Natalya.

John Cena will also be taking on WWE Champion Randy Orton in a one-hour Iron Man match.  If Cena fails to win the title, he will be forced to move to Smackdown.  Logic would dictate this means Cena gets the title back here, but really there are no challengers for him on Raw other than Orton, so THE FEUD MUST CONTINUE.  It will be interesting to see what these two will do with an hour to wrestle one another.  It feels like there hasn't been an extremely long match in the WWE in ages.

The World Heavyweight Title will be defended by the Undertaker in a four-way match against Rey Mysterio, Batista and CM Punk.  It looks like one pinfall takes the title, so the best possible finish would be for Punk to steal a pinfall from one of the faces and take back the title.  This would also work well as a catalyst for Batista to turn on best friend Mysterio, as WWE has appeared to have been subtly teasing a heel turn for weeks.  However, when Undertaker won the title, the plan was for a long program of 'Taker vs. Batista.  Undertaker has been looking mighty beat up, so who knows what will happen in this match.

The last match is a champion vs. champion match as Intercontinental Champion John Morrison takes on his former partner, United States Champion The Miz.  This should be a great match and will be a good showcase for both men.  This looks to be a non-title match.

please, please, please let this happen. orton is the better talent, and this cena thing has been going on way too long without anyone getting built as a result.

also, it’s getting to be about time for dibiase to turn heel. orton wins tonight, dibiase turns tomorrow, a new star is made, cena is pushed out of the way, and raw’s main event might just get fresh again.

Yeah, I think it would be best for EVERYONE if Cena loses tonight.
1. Cena moves to SMACKDOWN, allowing them to pull the trigger on the Batista turn/Taker dropping the belt to Batista, and then you’ve got a match that the Joes in the audience will actually pay to see.
2. At this point, you can have HHH beat Orton for the title next month (you know it’s gonna happen), have Rhodes and Dibiase turn on Orton (allowing the LONG delayed face/tweener turn for Orton).

i've had enough of HHH, too.

best thing that could happen is that the jerishow loses the tag titles to priceless in november, dibiase turns on orton the next monday, and they run up a feud in december, with cody rhodes stuck in the middle. going into the rumble, either dibiase is wearing both the tag title and the WWE championship, defending against his mentor, or orton is left victorious, but without any backup, setting the stage for a HHH win at the rumble, followed by a one for the thumb situation at WMXXVI.
