RIP, Captain Lou Albano

Photo

Dave Scherer is reporting that legendary WWE Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano has passed away.

Captain Lou was a big part of the WWF during its rise to prominence in the 1980s and remains one of the most well-known wrestling managers of all time. Scores of people who aren't wrestling fans will remember Lou from his appearance in Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Goonies R Good Enough" videos, and for his starring role as Mario in the the Super Mario Brothers television show.

Our condolences to his friends and family.

This is probably one of the most notable wrestling deaths I can think of since Benoit. This isn’t some fringe guy only the hardcores know, this is Captain Lou Albano. Guy was in scores of films and television shows, was in WWF as a manager while most people who are still fans now or fans of UFC were growing up.

Huge loss, obviously.

Captain Lou and Captain Lou Albano are two of the top trending topics on Twitter. Just imagine when Flair or Hogan finally pass away.
